I would like to know there are any suggestons on where we could go for vacation in galveston on the week of July 14th. I was thinking of a beach/condo rental but had no experience in this. It will be 11 adults and 2 children. Not alot of time to prepare. Thank you for all your help..

What can I do next?

I have been to Galveston a number of times, both personal as well as with a youth group. We love it . a place to stay depends on what you are looking for, places to go are many. We took the kids to Moody Gardens and on the paddle boat and I have done the boat that goes out into the harbor to see the dolphins. There are many museums that are cool as well. Go to the galveston web site and you will find many of these.

If you are not compleatly set on Galveston, I reccomend Port Aransas. It's a great little island town. Much more laid back and relaxed and a whole lot less crowded than Galveston. It is also further south which means cleaner water, and it is only about an hour further drive from the metroplex. That is where we vacation every year. We use a website called vrbo.com it is "vacation rentals by owner". You can see tons of listing for both Galveston and Port Aransas, as well as cities all over Texas and the U.S. We have had great success with the site. If you are considering "Port A" We have also had good luck with bestcoastrentals.com.
Good Luck!

Every year we stay at Islander East (we just went last week). I've been going to Galveston for 30 years, and I've stayed at Islander East for the past 6 years. It's on the beach, not across from the beach like most of the hotels/condos. The condos are individually owned, so the decor and upkeep varies a bit. I've been happy with all of them except one, and then I nicely complained to the management and they switched me to a different one and I loved it. They have different sizes, but for our family of four we stay in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath with a kitchen and living room and 2 balconies and it's only $209 a night. I think they call it an efficiency, but it's really big. The pool isn't fancy, but it's always clean and cool. There are chairs and umbrellas to rent on the beach if you want to. I'm pretty familiar with most places in Galveston, so if you have any other questions, let me know. Have a great time!
