Has anyone used any products or services for helping your kid learning a foreign language outside of what is taught in school? Any recommendations for a child that is 8?

Thanks all! Jeanie, what didn't you like about Rosetta Stone? Of all of these its the brand I know the best so it was one I was kind of considering...What did you all like about the other options such as Pimsleur, Rocket Language (?), etc.? Thanks in advance!

We've been doing a combo of a French tutor once per week, poems to memorize, books I can read to them, games (Memory, but using French names for all pictures), songs (lots of videos on youtube) and we use the Muzzy DVDs too. The key is doing it frequently if only short time per day.

We use Rocket French. So far, so good!

"The Learnables" and "Pimsleur". Hated things like "Rosetta Stone".

My husband is Hindi, and I barely know how to speak it. We want all our kids to learn it, since his parents barely speak any English. He tries to teach them, but he has little time, or the want to stick with it. I have purchased Rossetta Stone software. Contrary to how it was years ago, its much better. I have the type with voice recognition, and its very helpful in teaching them the proper way to say things, and remembering sentence structure. As well I have enrolled them in a class after school and pre-school with a local woman, who is from India and teaches an immersion class for the language. I like it. Its just an hour and they have a lot of fun there. I am picking up some things as well from sitting and waiting for them.
