Hello ladies!! I hope everyone is doing amazing. I just wanted to hear from you parents about ideas for giving a thoughtful gift for a teacher. I have two daughters whom this year have been blessed with two new teachers at the school. I really want to give them something that lets them know that I as a Mother, truly appreciate their hard work. My girls absolutely love their new teachers and I see how much effort these teachers put forth on a daily basis. If you are a teacher, by all means, please tell me what it is or what I can do for our teachers that really show pride in what they do. What would be a great gift for a teacher?

What can I do next?

I just asked all my teacher friends this question in relation to whether wine was an appropriate present. I had an avalanche of answers all saying YES!!! Some of them said that by Christmas they need a whole case of the stuff. So, I'm giving them wine.

I'm not trying to be mean, but this question has been asked A LOT just in the last few days let alone the last few weeks. It was just asked 15 hours ago and there are good answers that people already took the time to write. For me, it's still on the main questions page if you just scroll down. If you page through the questions, you will find tons of answers.

Take a look at my profile and my previous answers. I have responded to similar questions several times in the last month. I'm a teacher and to be honest, other than a handful of ornaments that I have kept over the 20 years I've been in education, the only Christmas gift that I still have is a copy of the book The Polar Express that was "autographed" by all of my students. If you want to give a meaningful gift that the teacher will keep, give a book. Patricia Palocco has written several about really amazing teachers. My favorite is Thank You, Mr. Falker, but she has others too. Or give gift cards. My responses to others' questions explain my reasonings more.

Added: In response to the gift of wine. DO NOT give it to the teacher at school! They could get into serious trouble for having alcohol on school property.

Please use the search bar in the upper right - this has been discussed a lot in the past week or two, including just a little further down on this page.

Teachers spend so much of their own money on classroom supplies. Therefore I started giving them cash. Really, they do not need another mug, hand cream, candle, plant, tree ornament, #1 Teacher anything, or picture frame (especially with a picture of your child) etc.
If you want something more personal than cash to go with it you could give candy.
