Son Won't Take Formula
Okay Mamas, I need some suggestions. Yesterday (Sat.) my DH decided to give my 9 month old son some Kool-aid. Now today (Sun) I cannot get my son to take his formula. He had about 4 ounces this morning and has refused anymore since then. He usually drinks 5 or 6, 8 ounce bottles a day. I finally let him have some water and he was happy with that, but does anyone have any suggestion on how to get him drinking his formula again?
So What Happened?™
I think that he just wasn't very hungry yesterday, and I was worring needlessly because last night before bed and today (MON) he has had no problems taking his bottles. Thanks for your suggestions everyone!

The best way is to wait him out. At 8 months, he will come around to it again. Just keep trying and in meantime keep him hydrated and eating other foods.
Did he get the kool-aid in a cup? The bottles could be too slow for him. Perhaps he wants a sippy cup instead. Have you tried changing out the nipple or just go for a sippy cup instead?

Mix a little kool aid in the formula and ween him off the koolaid. Maybe instead of koolaid try white grape juice or apple juice.

I'm not sure what brand you are using, but if you haven't tried Nestle's Follow-Up formula, give it a shot. Try mixing in a little fruit to add some flavor. At this stage of his development, he still needs the formula, but at a lesser and lesser rate as he adds more solids to his diet. 5 or 6 8 oz bottles sounds like a lot, but then, you have a boy and they tend to take more. I agree with the other poster who said try a sippy cup & let him have it during his meals. Ask your pediatrician how much formula vs. solids he should have at his stage of development. A lot depends more on his activity level rather than his chronological age--is he crawling or scooting, pulling to a stand, or even walking? (it can happen! I walked at 8 months & my husband at 7..our poor moms!)
