Recommendations for Travel Tray for Car Seat
Can anyone recommend a travel tray/table to attach to my son's car seat so he can play with toys and use for eating on the go?
I have looked into the ones at One Step Ahead but don't like the idea that it sits ontop of his lap. I know he will kick it all over the place.
They also have one with a foot rest that doesn't rest on his lap. I thought that would be good but the center post stays on all the time and I am afraid he will not be able to climb in and out of it on his own (he sits in the far back of our van and reach back only to buckle him in).
Do you know of any other companies that make such a thing?

S.,
I don't know of any travel trays but was wondering if you really wanted your son eating while you are driving, especially as he is so far back? What if he starts to choke? My daughter is also 3 and we give her a couple of soft toys to play with and sometimes a magnadoodle.

Hi S.,
My daughter is 3 as well, and we have and use the One Step Ahead Snack and Play travel tray. We love it... she loves it... it doesn't sit on her lap, it sits on the arm rests of her car seat and straps in for a nice fit... she is an active passenger and she has managed meals and play time really well. It is also soft enough/yet firm enough... I was worried about safety in the event of a car accident and someone recommended this one to me. Good luck!

I know that you said that you looked at one step ahead, but I thought that I'd put my experience in to the pot. I have two of the Taby trays from One Step Ahead and just bought two more for my nieces for Christmas. I really like them, but they do sit on their laps once their legs get big enough. It may depend on the carseat, though. We travel to see family a lot and I don't know what we would have done without them.

IMO travel trays are not safe in the least. Should you get in an accident that travel tray could become a projectile...or a sudden stop...if you get my drift and injure you or your child.

We tried one that we bought at Babies R Us for a few snacks (fruit snacks, mostly) and games and HATED IT. I think it was a Graco, had monkies on it and was green. I have looked on Amazon and they have a few that are ranked highly... One Step Ahead (web site) has one that seems really nice and is ranked highly as well.
