We would like to plan our first family trip to disney World in Orlando, Fl. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to help us plan an affordable trip for or family of 5? We would like to go during off peak times.

Hi T.!! I am actually planning a trip for four of us for Christmas time. I have actually found that the cheapest way to plan this trip is to go the the DisneyWorld website. They have hotels called "All Star" hotels. THese are the cheaper ones, $79 a night for off season and you still get all of the benefits. They pick you up from the airport for free, and you get free bus rides every day to wherever you want to go. They also have these Magic your way tickets with Dining. This is really the way to go. For each night that you stay at the hotel, each memeber of the family gets 2 meals and 1 snack anywhere in the entire Disney area including resturants and stands at all parks.
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!

Go check out some of these websites, they have tons of Disney info, ratings and reviews. Allears is probably the best at giving some wonderful tips.

You are smart to want to visit during off peak times. My favorite off peak time to visit is the first few weeks of December. The holiday decorations are up and they are beautiful. The crowds were manageable, we never had any huge waits for anything. As far as weather went it would vary from one extreme to the next. When the sun went down it would get pretty cold but during the day it was hot enough to go swimming. Another good off peak time for us was the first week of March before spring break. The crowds were a bit heavier at this time but the weather was really nice. As far as hotels go, the last time we went it was 4 adults and 3 children. We stayed at the Beach Club Resort and had a two bedroom suite. This was nice because we had a kitchen so we ate breakfast in the room every morning.

I could go on and on with ideas and tips but I might overload you. If you want any other suggestions/ideas/tips feel free to send me a message.

my sister went last week with her husband, 2 boys and my parents. they stayed at the sheraton orlando. she couldn't believe how nice it was. I saw pictures of the pools and they looked like most water parks. they paid $250/night for 2 whole bedrooms with kitchen, dining room, and living room. they probably have something smaller for a lesser price. also, my other advice is to buy your tickets in advance --whatever you plan to do--it's much cheaper--disney, universal, sea world--the tickets are all cheaper in advance. good luck. I posed this question for our family of 6 earlier this year. I had an overwhelming response. I don't know if you can get access to the wonderful comments and suggestions they had or not.

We decided to stay off property after great deliberation. Off property has more hassle, but you get more room for less money or as much money as staying on site. We also decided that we didn't want to eat, sleep, and breathe Disney 24/7. We chose the Embassy Vacation Resort. We actually booked through Delta Vacations and got a pretty good deal for a family of 6 (airfare, car rental, 3 bedroom suite w/full kitchen, and park hopper passes.) We are going the week of Thanksgiving which is not the best time to go, but the only time we could all be off. From what I have read and heard, the week before or after Thanksgiving is one of the best times to go.

Best of luck to you!
