Ok, I'm the worst offender of this but definitely WATER. Lots and lots of water. I once read that a big diet tip of supermodels is that they drink a full glass of water before they eat. It fills them up quite a bit to where they don't eat near as much.

First -wrap your head around the fact that your belly may always have a few "issues" -especially since you went up 55 lbs. Good for you for getting it off though! When you do lose this weight, take a good, hard look at your tummy part that will show in a bikini -if there are stretch marks or loose skin, then it's time for a tankini! I've seen more women with great bodies ruin their whole "look" by wearing bikinis after having children. A rare few can pull it off, but if you have ANY stretch marks or loose skin -don't do it unless you have a tummy tuck! Everyone's eyes are pulled directly to the problem.

Having said that - cut out processed "white" foods -white sugar (and really sweets in general -including sodas) and white flours/pastas. Limit your carb intake and focus on fresh fruits, veggies, and lean protein (that's basically South Beach in a nutshell). You'll feel great and be surprised at just how fast the tummy goes in! Try abdominal Pilates for abdominal muscles and make sure you always drink a ton of water every day.

My doctor told me to eat more fiber and it will help you lose belly fat. It really works. Plus pilates works really good too!!

www.sparkpeople.com - Its the webs largest FREE diet and healthy living community. It has really been helping me on my journey. When you join just enter my username (verticalabret) as your referral and I get extra points. I like the nutrition tracker because you really see where your calories are going!

Weight Watchers is AMAZING...it actually "teaches" you how to eat and what to eat. Weight simply falls off, I can eat whatever I want yet not starve or feel deprived EVER! I just have to stay within my alloted points for each day. Drink water, workout... Just remember...you may not loose it all - and just keep in mind the reason you may have a pouch...

Good luck! : )

You don't mention what your pre-baby weight was, but 120 pounds doesn't sound bad at all! Are you sure your belly is caused by fat, or is it caused by your stomach muscles stretching out from carrying that wonderful baby? I ask only because I am now 120 (117 pre-baby) and also delivered a 9 pound 8 oz baby nearly 4 months ago. My belly is a bit poochier than I'd like, but I can tell that it's not fat, it's loose muscle. I'm getting back into working out now, particularly working on my core muscles (abs and back). If this is really your problem, a diet isn't the solution, but exercise to tone up those muscles. Pilates works wonders for this kind of thing, and you can find DVDs out there really easily. Good luck!

Hi, A.:
Try the Dr. Phil program
17 day diet by Dr. ........
Sign up for Gold's Gym
Get a personal Trainer
Get some massage oil and massage
your abdomen at night time before you go to bed.

Okay that being said:
There are 6 stages of change
Precontemplation
Contemplation
Preparation
Action
Maintenance
and Termination.

Okay, now you know that. There is thinking that propels
you along that pathway.
What is it that you hope to gain from all this work?
There is alot of planning to change a lifestyle.
Good luck.
I'm rooting for you.

Sugars... simple (candy, sweets and soda) as well as complex (carbs). I know it doesn't sound fun, but lighly flavored seltzer is really tasty and you will see a noticable difference if you reduce your carbs. Cut-out "white starches" entirely... white bread, bagels, white pasta, etc.

Make sure that you pair this new diet with a steady work-out routine. You won't lose "flab" unless you tone your muscles!
