Ok, I'm the worst offender of this but definitely WATER. Lots and lots of water. I once read that a big diet tip of supermodels is that they drink a full glass of water before they eat. It fills them up quite a bit to where they don't eat near as much.

First -wrap your head around the fact that your belly may always have a few "issues" -especially since you went up 55 lbs. Good for you for getting it off though! When you do lose this weight, take a good, hard look at your tummy part that will show in a bikini -if there are stretch marks or loose skin, then it's time for a tankini! I've seen more women with great bodies ruin their whole "look" by wearing bikinis after having children. A rare few can pull it off, but if you have ANY stretch marks or loose skin -don't do it unless you have a tummy tuck! Everyone's eyes are pulled directly to the problem.

Having said that - cut out processed "white" foods -white sugar (and really sweets in general -including sodas) and white flours/pastas. Limit your carb intake and focus on fresh fruits, veggies, and lean protein (that's basically South Beach in a nutshell). You'll feel great and be surprised at just how fast the tummy goes in! Try abdominal Pilates for abdominal muscles and make sure you always drink a ton of water every day.

I would highly recommend the Hi5 system! It's amazing and it worked for me.
I cut out "white" starches and drank lots of water. And also did 5 days on 2 days off with the system so I didn't feel like I was depriving myself!! Good luck!

I was pretty much exactly the same weights (pregnant and after). I recently cut out dairy (all except yogurt), pork, and most red meat (all because of allergies), but i also lost about 10 pounds the first week (and kept it off) and now feel like I have soooo much more energy, and I don't feel like I have the belly anymore. It's pretty tough to totally cut out dairy, but so worth it for the extra energy I now have. I hope you feel better soon!

Cut out soda even if it's DIET soda. That worked WONDERS for me since it was my trigger to eat more sweet/ salty items. Once I figured that out the weight came off pretty fast.

I also drink an OBSCENE amount of water all day long. Ya can't eat as much if you're always running to the bathroom! Ha-ha. All the other posts sound good so good luck.

Hi, A.,

I learned a lot from "The Flat Belly Diet". I didn't follow the diet per se, but I integrated some of the ideas from the book into my lifestyle with good results. It's out in paperback now for 10 bucks - I've even seen it for sale at Target.

Good luck!

I lost my belly finally after my 3rd at 39 years old and she was a c-section. It probably took a year. The belly goes last. You can't spot train it away. Once the last few pounds are gone, the belly will go. It still comes back all the time though, so the battle never ends!

Add: water raw greens, fruit, whole grains, green tea (boost metabolism and is diarhetic (sp)

Cut: SUGAR (creates belly fat and makes body create more belly fat even if calories are reasonably low) salt (bloats) white flour, wheat stuff and yeast type breads. Stick to multi whole grains and Ezekial bread is the best. No red meat. High in fat and hormones and h*** o* your body. Junk food. soda.

You don't mention what your pre-baby weight was, but 120 pounds doesn't sound bad at all! Are you sure your belly is caused by fat, or is it caused by your stomach muscles stretching out from carrying that wonderful baby? I ask only because I am now 120 (117 pre-baby) and also delivered a 9 pound 8 oz baby nearly 4 months ago. My belly is a bit poochier than I'd like, but I can tell that it's not fat, it's loose muscle. I'm getting back into working out now, particularly working on my core muscles (abs and back). If this is really your problem, a diet isn't the solution, but exercise to tone up those muscles. Pilates works wonders for this kind of thing, and you can find DVDs out there really easily. Good luck!

Weight Watchers is AMAZING...it actually "teaches" you how to eat and what to eat. Weight simply falls off, I can eat whatever I want yet not starve or feel deprived EVER! I just have to stay within my alloted points for each day. Drink water, workout... Just remember...you may not loose it all - and just keep in mind the reason you may have a pouch...

Good luck! : )

Sugars... simple (candy, sweets and soda) as well as complex (carbs). I know it doesn't sound fun, but lighly flavored seltzer is really tasty and you will see a noticable difference if you reduce your carbs. Cut-out "white starches" entirely... white bread, bagels, white pasta, etc.

Make sure that you pair this new diet with a steady work-out routine. You won't lose "flab" unless you tone your muscles!

Well, you're right the only way you are going to get your stomach back is through diet and a little exercise. I have read that to obtain a trim stomach is 80 percent diet and 20 exercise. So that means no junk (this includes processed foods) add in lots of veggies; you can't eat too much of those and lean protein. Remember diets don't work, but lifestyle changes do!!! Good luck! And it's okay if you don't get your belly back to the way it was, you have some wonderful things to show for it.

Hi, A.:
Try the Dr. Phil program
17 day diet by Dr. ........
Sign up for Gold's Gym
Get a personal Trainer
Get some massage oil and massage
your abdomen at night time before you go to bed.

Okay that being said:
There are 6 stages of change
Precontemplation
Contemplation
Preparation
Action
Maintenance
and Termination.

Okay, now you know that. There is thinking that propels
you along that pathway.
What is it that you hope to gain from all this work?
There is alot of planning to change a lifestyle.
Good luck.
I'm rooting for you.

Regular exercise. Cut out processed "white" carbs like white rice, white flour. Eat whole grains only (brown rice, quinoa, etc)! Try not to eat/drink sugar. No potatoes. No corn. Try to eat less at each meal. It's hard! I'm trying to get rid of my belly too. I've been doing these things and it's really working.
