To all the genius designers and closet designers,
My sister gifted me with a decorative artwork which is done on a square piece of cloth. Its approx 20 something inches on each side, and am supposed to hang it like a diamond, on a wall. Its a thick cotton cloth, with a cotton lining on the back. The piece itself is beautifully finished and the edges are neatly tucked and stitched and all that, but how do I hang it taut on the wall?

Should I pin all 4 corners stretched with nails? Command strips? Wrap it around cardboard or something? Or do I get a wooden frame? Where do I find square ones, and maybe of custom size? I sure don't want to cause any damage to the piece itself. Please give me some ideas...
Thanks a bunch in advance! :)

What can I do next?

I would take it somewhere that does custom framing, if you want it framed - that will be the best way to preserve and display it, and they can frame it so that it hangs the way it's supposed to.

you'll prob get better ideas.
but the simplest might be to use archival tape and stick it to a piece of card stock
then put the cardstock in a picture frame
and hang the top of the diamond on a nail.
it would be underglass and the nail might not make it super secure but it might get the job done.

Wait for a good sale at Michaels or AC Moore (or your local equivalent) and have it done professionally.

We found a piece of my grandfather's handwritten sheet music while cleaning out the closet and getting ready for the new baby. It was titled "The Cradle Song" and has his handwriting and signature all over it. He composed while finishing his doctoral work in Vienna, so there was NO question that it was getting framed and displayed in the baby's room. We waited for a sale at Michael's and had them matte and frame it. Regular price... $250. Sale price... $85. It is beautiful and far more artistically done that I could have imagined!

Sounds like a very nice piece. Since it is fabric, I would strongly consider having it framed using UV protected glass. Since it is fabric, If the colors are vibrant (or even if they are not) the colors will fade quicker than a normal painting. Make sure, if you do have it framed, that you explain to the framer how you intend on hanging it, so that they put the brackets in the right place.
