Well this could be long, but i really need some encouragement. My husband owns a oil and gas company here in TX (we moved out here 5 years ago.) He has been just been offered a Job in northern Colorado. Only problem is, I am about to have a baby....my due date is April 11th so she can come anyday. We have a son who just turned two. My husband told the company that the start date could be end of April or early May!? Im freaking out that how the heck are we going to move cross country with a newborn, a two year old and me recovering from giving birth?? Anyone do this? We moved out here from Colorado, so the only good news is that our whole family is out there! But we will still be about an hour away from them. I just dont know how im going to pack, sell this house, get another house with all that is going on :( We just found out about the job, so im stressing. I know it can be done....I guess i need some encouragement and some one to tell me it is possible and give me tips. We dont have any family out here to help us pack up or help with our 2 year old or newborn. But my MIL is coming out when we are having the baby. So thats good.....ahhh help

What can I do next?

Friend of mine got a job in another state when she was on maternity leave. What they did was start looking for housing when their son was 1 month old and moved when he was about 3 months old. He had frequent flier miles before he was 1!

Many people also send one spouse on ahead. You stay with the kids with your MIL for a bit while he goes forward, gets some housing, moves some essentials into it, and starts his new job. Nothing says you have to sell your home IMMEDIATELY, though it might be best financial sense. I would get in touch with a realtor and let them to do the work of showing the house, etc. Take that off your mind.

I'd also enlist friends and other family to help you pack or watch the kids. Maybe get a Pod so you can move things into the Pod as you have time and then move the whole Pod when you're ready. It might also help you store things while you stage the house for sale.

You do nothing but rest and recover. My dad bought their house in VA when my mom was NJ. They just sent pics of things.

Hire a moving company to pack up your house. The moving expenses can be written off on your taxes next year.

Put the clean bedding for all of your beds in a clear tote. Last things on the truck and the first things off are the beds. Then have someone make up your kids beds.

2nd section to unpack is the kitchen.

is his new company offering any moving expenses? my husbands covered everything from realator fees, closing costs and a moving company. However had they NOT helped, I sugguest you get as much packed NOW as much as you can...basically live out of a suitcase (and paper plates) for the next 2 months... For the 2 year old, i would sent him/her to a daycare for a week and pack everything up...tackle one room per day. you can do it...(first take a deep breath)
Last (but first) PRAY for strength....when you get out to CO, make sure you make those phone calls ahead of time to your family and friends about helping. I am sure they are excited to have you back in town and want to help...so LET them. It might be more fun for them to watch the kids while you unpack your house.
good luck

Hopefullly they will pay his moving expenses.
Let them do the packing and try to get a "door to door" move. It will take three to five days but they will pack it load it, and dump it, without reloading it to another truck, or worse sitting in in storage.
Save out what you need for the kids, hubby, and yourself.

Have you MIL put all like things together, pictures, shelves, glassware books,
Unhook electronics
Take everything off the walls
She can do this for you.

Rent in the new location for a while. I know you don't want to do that. After you leave have a professional cleaner come in and clean the house and repair anything then hire a real estate agent.
Of course you can do the two mortgage deal until you sell, we had two until last month. It took 9 months for our house to go under contract.

And it will be OK.
We have moved twice with newborns, 6 times with toddlers. And to be quite honest this last move was the worst and my youngest is 10. We/re military, I dont' even get a choice as to where I go.
Maybe Grandma can take the toddler for a spell while you and hubby deal with the movers.
