HI J.,
Congrats on your pregnancy!
I've been on Mirena for 1 year and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I haven't gained any weight and very rarely get my period. It's nice because you don't even know it's there.
Good Luck~!

J.-I have been on the Mirena IUD for three months and I love it. No periods, no PMS and absolutely no weight gain. It is the easiest form of Birth control I have ever used. You're supposed to check the strings every month which is a lot like using a tampon without the applicator but other than that it is so easy. I would highly recommend it and most insurance plans pay for it so no trips to the pharmacy, copays, etc. Good luck! M.

I just had the Mirena placed two weeks ago, so I am excited there are so many out there that have had such good luck with theirs! It sounds like such a great thing, don't have to remember anything but checking the strings. I hated the pill, the patch, and I spotted for the first 3 months I was on Depo-provera...but I only spotted the first few days after the IUD was placed. So far so good!! Good luck finding what works for you. As was mentioned before, Insurance usually covers it, but if not, the cost of the IUD spread out over time is very comperable to what I had to pay for the pill, even less if you keep it in the whole 5 yrs.

I am not on it but I did have a friend that got the Mirena IUD a couple months after she had her son and she didn't gain any weight at all from it. She is recommending to everyone who doesn't want a child for a few years.

Hi Jess,
I had my baby girl (Ella) 6 months ago, 4 months ago I got on Mirena IUD, I have lost 11 lbs since then. However that could be due to drastic changes in my diet. I have no problems with it. Take Care and Hope you find something that will help!

Hi,
I have an almost 2 year old, got my Mirena when he was 3 months old and love it. No weight gain at all (had a big problem with that on the pill and Depo) and no periods. I love it!
