Middle School Halloween-Costume Party Activities

We are hosting a very low-key Halloween-Costume Party for about 10 MIddle Schoolers, co-ed, all buddies. They are nice, respectful kids and just want to have a fun night together. We will be having dinner and then some activities and a movie.

So far the activities include: mini-pumpkin decorating, cupcake decorating with candy and a "Mummy Wrapping Race" where each team wraps one kid up with Toilet Paper. We are considering bobbing for apples on a string if we can figure out how to hang them.

Do you have any suggestions of other fun, easy activities for Middle Schoolers that would fill the time and make good memories?

Thanks so much!

3 activities, plus food, plus watching a movie... sounds like enough activity to me! Mostly, Jr. high kids just want to "hang out" :)

Sounds like a blast!

Instead of the apples, I suggest you hang Donuts. They are lighter weight and a bit easier to bite into. The apples are tricky.. and they hurt when they slap your face and nose.

Charades
Musical Chairs
Also Guess who.. You place a name tag on each of their backs as they walk in. They have to ask others yes or no questions, to figure out who they are.

We use the adhesive name tags.
Lady Ga Ga
The Good Witch
Michael Jackson
George Washington
Their School Principal
Cinderella
The big bad wolf

we did the mini pumpkin thing at a party once, and I hid the pumpkins in the yard, like an easter egg hunt. I pretty much hid them in plain sight since it was dark out by the time we hunted them. We did a game like that dress the bride game with TP.... teams made mummies, bride of frankenstein, ghosts etc. by wrapping a kid in toilet paper.... I've also done craft stations... we made little candy cups I got from a martha stewart magazine that I just photocopied, and and little bats out of clothespins that I pre-spray painted black, the kids cut out black fun foam wings and wiggly eyes and glued them on, then they could decorate with them, or wear them on their clothes. There's a spiderweb yarn game, where kids stand in a circle and toss a black ball of yarn back and forth to make a web... but I don't remember what you do after that... sorry... I just remember everyone was laughing and tied up....
Hope that helps...

The min to win it is a big thing.... have you seen the show ? You can get a pie of whip cream, no hands and find the gummy worms in a time frame.

You can have costumes and have them race and put them on and run back, take it off and the next person gets it on and races and so on.....

While it's great to have activities, be flexible and don't overplan. Kids this age like to just hang out and gab. So give them plenty of social time too! They don't have to be doing something every minute. Have a blast!
