I am 5 months post baby number 2 and I am in need of some weight loss. I already lost a few pounds but I want to know how to lose some of this extra skin snd weight... I look good in a bikini now but want to look amazing! How do you mamas lose so much weight after the babies? Please I want to look like I used to for my husband even though he thinks Iook amazing, I want to look and feel amazing for him! Thanks in advance for any ideas on how to lose weight...
Oh and I have been walking every day 2 miles or so...I also watch what I eat and want to lose it healthy and not really fast! Thanks again. I also want to add that I had a c section... My streach marks are just about gone and the more weight I lose I seem to lose skin as well. I don't want pre baby body back I want better. I was in high school and was like a size 2. I don't want to be so thin I really like everyone seems to notice is more tone up. I need to lose about 20lbs or so bc thats what I gained in the past 2 years being pregnant... But if I just tone up I will be happy!

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

Nutrition is the key. My husband lost 110 pounds on an absorbable multivitamin/mineral complex. Grapeskin and grapeseed extract will help with elasticity of your skin and get it back to the way it was. They are also good for the interior lining of your vascular system as well. Antioxidants always help everything and of course, dodging free radicals.

My husband needed to lose 110 pounds. I lost 15...because that was what my body needed to lose. Nutrition gets you to where you are supposed to be!

God bless and congratulations on that little one!

I am a certified group fitness instructor, and I have a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. While our bodies will never be quite the same after having our babies, we can do a lot to be fit mamas for ourselves and our hubbies and our kids. I've started writing a blog and for a couple online sites about my passion for fitness. It's unique as a mom. It was different before I had kids. I'm sure you can relate. Anyway, here's some links if you feel like getting further advice... I'm not trying spam. My fingers just get tired of typing it all out over and over :) Blessings!

For me I used to work out at the gym but have recently started working out at home using the Nike women's training circuit training videos which you can find on-line and Nikewomen.com and the free exercise videos available on-demand with most cable companies, I also track my nutrition and exercise minutes on Sparkpeople.com, which a completely free website that has all types of nutritious recipes, exercise videos, and other tools to help you lose and/or maintain your weight. I found this website from another mother on mampedia (mamasource). These tools are helpful for me because I a single mother who works full-time. Hopefully you will find the right tools that will help you get to where you want to be.

sounds like more than anything you want to get toned? px90 work out viedos are super hard and really work. i regret getting them as i could not keep up with them! thats never happened before with any work out program weather gym or viedo. i wish i would have started out with slim in six. as it looked like it was geared towards women. px90 uses a lot of upper body strength which most men have...not this girl though. good luck. congrats on your baby and health.

Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition is 80-90% of the battle make really good choices 6 days a week. I say this hoping you realize that cardio and strength training must also become a routine part of your day. Yes you can do this at home. Now that its' warming up throw the kiddos in the stroller and run, run, run. Doing some strength training at home will help build some muscle and muscle burns fat more efficiently. Sounds cliche but if you make those changes a part of your life it's not such an effort. We know a woman that homeschools 5 kids and trains for ironman distance triathlons! It can be done!!! All the best to you.

For me I did Jenny Craig and joined the gym. I used Jenny Craig to lose the initial weight and now I just work out 3 times a week, I do weights, kickboxing, and step w/weights. I still watch what I eat, but am able to pretty much eat what I want within reason and maintain the weight loss(even lost a few pounds more after I stopped Jenny Craig). Weights will help you burn more calories so maybe try walking with hand or ankle weights to speed up the calorie burn.

Honey, if you can get back to "amazing" then kudos to you. I think most women can get back to their prepregnancy weight but 99% of us that do bring along battle scars like stretch marks and baggy skin on the lower belly. If you want amazing you need a plastic surgeon. I have been able to get better than my pre pregnancy weight by diet, excercise maybe a little cheating with diet pills prescribed by my doctor and then got back to a 0-2 but still have the battle scars. Who has the money to go to a plastic surgeon? Even at a 0 or 2 or even 4 you are still going to have stretch marks and saggy skin. That doesn't go away without surgery. You need a plastic surgeon or a change of attitude. Be proud of your battle scars. Those are things you and your husband made together. You can still be amazing in his eyes by not letting yourself go. Be a good mom. Maintain good hygiene and a healthy weight. Take care of your family. That is amazing to 99% of all men.

One thing you have to accept is that after having a baby our bodies change. NOt always for the worse, but they definitely change. Our hips may be a bit wider, we may hold fat in different places than before etc etc. With that said, I would suggest finding a regular exercise that you love. Join a gym or find a dance class etc.

Also Weight Watchers is great for eating healthy and losing weight. I did Weight Watcher online only and lost 37 lbs, I've kept about 35 lbs off and it's been almost 2 years.

Good luck, I'm sure you will find something that works for you!

I know how you feel. I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 115 lbs with baby #2 about 6months after she was born. But I felt like I need to tone up and like you wanted to look great in a bikini for our up coming trip to Hawaii. So The best way for me was just to just count my calories. I did slim fast too so that I didn't have to think too much about what to eat and that helped me keep my calories in check. i also got an ab video and work h*** o* getting those muscles toned up again. After about another 2 months I was down to 107 lbs and for my trip I had a nice toned tummy. I got so many compliments on how great I looked after have 2 kids and I was so proud of myself for getting my body back in shape. So i hope this helps and good luck. You can do it!

I work part-time (4 days) and I have a 20 month old daughter. At the beginning of last summer I decided that I needed to get serious about exercising and trying to lose some weight from my pregnancy. So I looked into Curves. www.curves.com I've been having a hard time losing the last ten pounds. I had gained 30 lbs during my pregnancy.
I'm happy to say that I joined in June and have been losing weight and inches. It's only a half hour of your time and allows you to have some time to yourself. It was difficult at first but I got into the routine. The Curves circuit was designed by doctors and it works every muscle in your body. Women of all ages go there. I have been on the Curves Smart program. It adjusts the machine to your needs. It's a great program and enjoyable going there.. meeting other women... talking, laughing, and having a good time. I had exercised before... walking occasionally and doing pilates on a regular basis. Unfortunately I don't have time to work out in the morning so I do it after dinner and on my days off. I work out 2 to 3 times per week.
Initially there was a $99 fee due to the computer chip needed for the machines. The monthly fee is only $34 and this is unlimited use of the facility. You can't beat that price! Health club memberships are expensive. Plus you can go to other Curves when you travel. Hope this helps!

Of course, diet. Stay away from sugar in particular. Since you have already been walking 2 miles, try to run 2 miles a day instead. Start out by walking 5 minutes, running 2. Just alternate and push yourself until you can run the whole way. I started out pushing a double jogger and when I went running w/o the kids, I could go SO much farther. There are tons of 5K's coming up this time of year. It's great motivation. Lastly, do 3 sets of 10 push ups a day. Start by doing as many men's style push ups as you can. If it's only one, that's okay. Then, drop to your knees and finish off with women's style. As the weeks go by, try to do more and more men's push ups and fewer women's. Focus on your form and don't rush through them. This will tone your shoulders and your core in no time. It's the most basic and most amazing exercise!

You are never going to have that pre-baby body back. BUT, there is not reason not try look your best!

I used Weight Watchers after baby #2 and lost 69# over a year and a half.

Unfortunately, unless you have amazing genes and your skin naturally bounces back, surgery is your only way to get rid of it.

Good Luck!

I followed the diet in the recipe book for Alli and took the pill. I don't think the pill did anything the diet was great and healthy. By eating a truly healthy diet I could feel my face kind of tighten and not look so tired from the babies. I also did the Biggest loser work out on On Demand on Comcast. It was a combination of weights and yoga stuff I guess. I use to be a runner and I prefer these workouts because in just a few weeks your are toned all over your body for just 15-20 minutes a day. I did not run or walk to lose my weight.
I lost 10-13 lbs in 3 weeks and hit a wall. I tried the same thing 6 months later and lost another 10 lbs in about 2 1/2 weeks without pills just following the diet and exercise.
