Looking to Transition from Corporate World to Work at Home.

Hi All,

I'm a 39 year old Corporate America, working mom of 4 children. My hubby & kids moved to FL 3 years ago from NJ and I am looking for a way to transition from the Corporate world to working from home.

I currently work about 60 hours a week and commute about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours each way. My family life has gone from busy but scheduled to utter chaos due to the fact that mom is essentially not home until the weekends (I get home anytime after 9 p.m. on a good day). While I love to work and am very driven, I find myself utterly exhausted all the time trying to play catch up on kids, school, housework, bills, etc and despite all the hours I'm putting in, we're still behind the 8 ball every paycheck. My husband tries to do the best that he can and helps out where he can but it's not working (emotionally, financially and physically).

I was wondering if anyone knew of any legitimate, work from home companies that I could possibly work for in the evening (cut down my hours in the office) until I can transition to something full time? I have an idea in mind for starting my own business but I don't know how great of need there is for this and I can't afford to quit my job (breadwinner of the household)completely hoping that my business idea will take off and earn me what I currently make now.

The idea is to provide concierge services for families that do not have the time nor the desire to handle their vacation planning, event planning, make dinner reservations, theater reservations, seasonal residents that need to have their vehicles relocated etc. I currently do that for the busy executive that I work for and he absolutely loves it. He doesn't have to make dinner reservations, airplane reservations, rent cars, transport his vehicles to New York for the summer, make doctors appts. I do it all for him, pay his bills, etc. Do anyone think there is a need for this type of service? Any advice on how to transition out of a corporate office to a home office? Any legitimate work from home companies that I could start working for part-time and then transition to full time that offers a decent salary? Any ideas, suggestions, comments, welcome. Thank you in advance.

I advised someone else this, I don't have a 4 year degree, but if you do-try editfast.com...I was excited to find it though, and every piece of info you can give is what comes back to you...I hope I can do the same one day! I just found the bellybusterdiet, like it, but I don't have $350 to invest...I have maybe $10...so I am not up for DM (direct marketing)

Couple things, first I love selling Usborne Books and can work it around my schedule, can even sell to libraries and schools when the kids are in school and I have a little more time. You would need to schedule home shows at night. Feel free to check out my website under my signature.
But with respect to doing something like your currently doing, I just saw a story on Today or Good Morning America or maybe even a local Tampa morning show and it was about this woman who worked from home as the personal assistant to busy executives. I believe the woman said she had 6 clients, and charged them $45/hour for her time to do just as you said make travel arrangements, correspondences etc. I wish I didn't have Mommy brain and could actually remember where I saw it, but the tv is never mine to watch so I catch shows for 10-15 minutes here and there. But this you might be able to try to get a few clients before you leave your job and then have enough for part time and grow more clients as kids leave the nest and the load at home lightens. If I remember correctly this woman in the story guaranteed a 24-48 hour turn around on the various projects.
Good Luck with your search from a former Sales Engineer who is loving being a stay at home mom and in my spare time hopefully bringing the love of reading to children through Usborne Books.

Hi A.,

Are you still looking for something? If so, send me your phone number and I'll give you a call when it's convenient for you. I truly work from home with my business. I did the home party thing and I have 4 kids, it was too hard for me to do parties and events and be gone and missing everything to make a few bucks.

I'm working with a company now that is incredible. I really can work from home by helping my contacts promote their businesses with www.sendoutcards.com/C.

I take them through a tour of our system and their mind starts racing with ideas of how they can use this service with their clients and even personally with friends and family so they never forget a birthday or anniversary again! This takes 25-30min with them on the phone and they sell themselves..it's a no brainer for most people that they need a service like this.

I can give you a tour of the system, no pressure...I believe that EVERY business is NOT for EVERYone...so if nothing else, you'll get to send a few free cards with your gift account and learn about a new business...I'd love to chat.

I'm interested in how you are doing with your teenagers...my girls are 6 & 5 and my boys are 2 & 10mths...whew..it's alot of work and I'm trying to see what has worked with others so that I can start doing things now with them to prevent the terrible teens! :)

I do this business for a few hours a day and then hang out with my kids the rest of the day..it's great!

Call me or email me at ____@____.com or my cell is ###-###-####.

Hope to talk with you soon,

A.,
Wow you got some great responses! I just joined mamasource or I would have answered you long before. I hope that you have found what you are looking for! I have been able to resign from my full time outside job and stay at home with my three boys and could not be happier!! I ran in to the opportunity of becoming an independent distributor for Monavie (the 19 berry fruit drink with the acai berry) when my parents got tremendous health results from taking it. Now they have great health and wealth, which they shared with my sister and I. If you would like more information on this, if your new venture has not worked out, or just something extra, let me know and I can get more information for you. I really work very part time with the monetary freedom to enjoy my children, husband and life!!

A.,

I am also working towards the same goal. I want to be home more for my family and still find a way to make money to pay the bills so I became an independent distributor for SendOutCards.

SendOutCards is an Internet based Greeting Card Company with over 10,000 greeting cards to choose from. All you do is go to the web site, choose a card, type in your greeting, choose whom you want to send it to, click the send button and you’re done. SendOutCards, prints it, stuffs, it, stamps it and mails it for you; all for less than a greeting card you buy at the store.

You can become an independent distributor and build a team and make residual income whether you are working the business or playing with your children. That is the great thing about this company.

To better understand the company, why don’t you send a greeting card or two “free” to someone special in your life and see how easy it is. Then if you are interested we can set up a time to talk and I can answer any questions you have. It will be the least expensive business to start from your home and who doesn’t send cards.

Go to my website www.sendoutcards.com/plannerconnections and click on the banner. The audio will walk you through setting up a quick account and you can send out two cards.

Please let me know what you think

Hi A.,

If you would like to just try out doing home parties, but without shelling out a bunch of money to get started, please go to my site at www.partylite.biz/votiveconfidence. Unlike almost every other home party company out there, PartyLite gives you the opportunity to try it out for FREE (and if you start in June, you can get an extra $75 in product for yourself or your kit for $12!!). If you find it's not for you, you get to keep your kit, the money you've made so far and walk away, no catch. The great thing is you also have support and training from people who have been where you are in your business, business aids, etc. and there is no limit on how much you can make...it's up to you if you want to make $300/month or $300,000+. You also don't have to worry about making deliveries, keeping inventory to sell others, and again, no investment! Not to mention, who doesn't love candles?

I hope you'll at least go to my website and look it over. If you would like more information (no pressure, that's just not my style), just fill out the Contact Me page on my site and I can send you a CD-Rom and some other info so you can make an informed decision.

Thanks again,
A.

A., I've looked and looked for good stay at home work. I really in the same situation as you, I'm not the breadwinner but I can't afford to quit either, I cover healthcare costs for me and the kids. I love your idea. It really depends on where you live. I can tell you I would love to have someone do all that for me but I don't make enough to pay for it but I make too much to quit. My sister on the other hand does, make that kind of money, she lives in Orlando. I think it's a nitch clientle but if you find them you could make a great living at it. Good luck, let me know how it goes. Oh last thought, have you asked your current company for an alternative work schedule or a work from home part-time in the office part time to help with the stress and cut out the commute? It can't hurt to ask. ~S.
