Looking to Connect with Other Parents in Olympia

Our family is getting ready to move from Salt Lake to Olympia. I'm a stay-at-home mom and my husband works from home, so our opportunities to meet people will be somewhat limited. Can anyone suggest a good way to connect with other parents in the downtown Olympia area? We're both in our early 30's and have two sons, a 3yo and a 3mo.

What can I do next?

I would suggest a play group. There's a group called moms meetup you can join on-line and they will send you notification of when they will meet. There's MOPS at about 3 churches in Olympia you can go on-line to find where they meet. Also you could do a play group through the Olympia Parks & Rec. I like to meet parents at the play area in the mall. There is a really fun Farmer's Market downtown and several parks that are also good places to go with kids. Also the Children's Hands On Museum. If you are an outgoing person you can always strike up a conversation with other parents at those kinds of places.
My family all live in the Salt Lake area. I hope your move goes smoothly. I live on the westside of Olympia and have a 7yo boy and a 3yo girl. I would love to meet you. You can email me anytime.

Hi J.,

I would suggest getting involved in a MOPS group. There is one through Westwood Baptist Church on the Westside. If you can find childcare for your older child, I know there is room for more moms (childcare is full). Our group is currently meeting until May. This was one way I got connected to the area when we moved from out of state.

Hi J., welcome to Olympia, WA.
I suggest the Hands on Children's Museum in downtown Olympia. It is a fun place for small children and lots of parents there as well. Every year my kindergarten class goes there for field trips. I am a para-educator in kindergarten here in Olympia and a single mom of a wonderful 10 year old son.
There are lots of beutiful parks to enjoy here in the summer time also.

I just joined Sensaria as an idependent rep to have more me time with other fabulous women...not only do I get to use and enjoy fabulous spa products that are absolutely awesome, I have met so many other fabulous mom's!!!

We walk every Saturday and we have a meeting once a month. This past month I had dinner with two of the mom's and it was awesome! I think this is a great way to get to know other mom's on a personal level!

If you are looking for activities where you can meet other moms while still being with your children, I would suggest a MOMS Club. There are currently 3 in our area. You can learn more about the one for Olympia at www.momsclubofolympia.com. I've made wonderful friends and have found it to be the fastest way to meet people when you move to a new area. Welcome to Olympia!
