Labels for Education
I cut out all the labels for education that are on the groceries we buy (cereal boxes, soup cans, etc.) We recently moved to the area, and unfortunately, the middle school near our house does not want them and my son has not started school yet, so I am not sure what to do with them. I hate to just throw them out as it is free money for schools. Does anyone know what schools (or other charities) can/will use all of these labels? Thanks.

Where are you located - maybe someone can pick them up? I know what you're talking about because I have plenty to send to school when it starts up again. - Becky

I know that St. Symphorosa School, 6135 South Austin Avenue, Chicago, IL 60638. It would be great if you could send them to the school.

That's nice of you to think of helping others out. Wheaton Christian Grammar School accepts them, and also Medinah Christian School. Maybe someone will give you the name of a school near you that could use them, so it would be an easy drop off.

Even though your son has not started elementary school yet, I say give the labels to school that he will attend for kindergarten. (Call and see if they are using them before you walk/drive over there.)

I am not too sure about the area you live in but there maybe some school in the area that will be starting to except them. I collect them too. Both Box tops for education and the campbells. peppridge farm stuff, ect. Usually when the school year starts they will collect them with in a month or so. You can also try the local park district and library. I hope this helps.

Hi M.,
I'm not sure what schools would use them in your area.
My sister is a second grade teacher for a charter school here in Chicago and I collect them for her so if you are unable to find a school to give them I'm sure her school could use. She just started there so I don't have her school's info to give you right now.

M.,
Go onto your local districts web site and click lables for education, it will tell you what schools take them and which ones don't. If there isn't a link for that, call the district office. I'm sure you would like to keep the money in the district your son will attend....

I would give them to the school your son will attend for Kindergarten. If he attends daycare or preschool, check to see if they accept them. Many libraries accept them as well.
Then there's Freecycle.org. I place ads all the time for Labels for Education. Many people clip them for donation like yourself and don't need them specifically for their neighboring school. Freecycle.org is a egroup via Yahoo Groups where what you don't need might be good for someone else. There may also be things you need that someone else is giving away. This in turn keeps the landfills cleaner.
Best of luck to you and your growing family!

St. Benedict's Church at Irving Park and Leavitt has a box for them in the back of the church.
How thoughtful of you not to want them to go to waste.
Good Luck!

I'm sure any parent of a school child would gladly take them! My daughters school collects those. And with school starting right around the corner, how perfect to go back with a headstart on box tops!
