How to Find the Best Prices for a Disney FL Trip?

I am wondering how you Mamas felt that you got some great deals taking a Disney World trip? We have to fly, need a hotel, etc. and are planning to do a "basic" trip - no hopper passes or meal plans - since we have small children.

Did you use a travel agent? Online resource? Or some other method to book your trip?

Any money saving ideas are appreciated.

We are willing to spend the money to go on a GOOD vacation soon, but are always looking for ideas and suggestions on how to make the most of our trip AND do/see what's important.

Many thanks for your suggestions!

Do you have a hotel in mind that you want to stay at? I would suggest the Beach or Yatch club, because it has access to 2 of the parks; Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Both in walking range and both offer a short boat ride. You can also walk over to the Boardwalk which has resuarants and games and a few stores. We usually book our trip thru Disneyworld.com and I too would suggest the Dining option it is so GREAT! We ahve used it the last 5 times or so we have been and it couldnt be any easier. You also should make dining reservations i think its like 80 or 90 days prior to you trip, because they fill up fast! I dont believe you "need" the hopper choice, but we usually get it. Disneyworld.com offers flights but we usually book them seperatly, but if you do book seperatly, you can still call and add the Disney's Magical Express to pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel, but only if you are staying on property, and it is AWESOME! You dont have to worry about your luggage, they take it to your hotel room for you! If you are going before Nov 1, i would suggest doing the Not So Scary Halloween Party, but it does require a seperate ticket, but it is fun. PLease let me know if you have any other questions

I highly suggest doing the meal plan if you stay on property. Not only is it the most economical way to eat down there without having a full kitchen, but it will be SO much fun for your kids. Kids under 3 may eat off of the adult's plates free of charge, so if your little ones are that little, it makes it an even better deal! (I also think it's only like $12 a day for 4-12, so it's still a REALLY good deal.) I would suggest watching Disney itself and call AAA. A lot of times AAA can give you deals on tickets, but Disney has the best deals if you are staying on property (% off, free meal plan, etc.).

I honestly recommend staying on property because of all it has to offer. We stayed over night in Orlando (because we arrived a day before our reservation started at Disney itself) and spent about $59 for the night. The room came with a "continental breakfast" (you could just bring poptarts and muffins with you and create your own) and that was it. You would have had to pay for parking, drive the 30 minutes into and out of Disney every day, park, etc. If you stay on property you have access to their beautiful pools, their transportation to and from the parks, free transportation from the airport, access to the meal plan (you can't use it if you don't stay on property), and are able to use extra magic hours. It doesn't sound like much, but being able to go into a park an hour early or stay a few hours after closing makes a world of difference!

We go to Disney every year, so if you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me!

Talk to your AAA agent. They now offer Disney info.

I suggest using a travel agent who can give you pointers and tell you of any specials. I found that staying at a Disney hotel allowed us to do the meal plan (cheapest way to eat without buying groceries and cooking your own meals) and you can use their shuttle service to cut down on driving and parking/walking.
