They helped so much in deciding where we wanted to live when my husbands job got transferred. We found a wonderful school district.

Try Plano Independent School District.
If that's not what you are looking for and are moving, your realtor may have great information. Or, if he/she doesn't, will be able to put you in touch with someone who does.
Good luck!

www.greatschools.org can tell you ratings for the schools in a town or city. You can call the city/area board of education for a breakdown of the individual area a school covers.

When we built our house 6 years ago and moved school districts, we Googled "_____ school district" (fill in the name) and "SAT scores".

They were very comparable - we actually left the better one but both my husband and I agreed that the quality of the school district is important, but it's our job as parents to reinforce and continue the learning at home as well.

Here in SA, the school district websites post maps of the area and which neighb. goes to which school. There are also accountability ratings on each site---required by law. Check the Texas Education Agency site too for more info and rankings.
When we were house hunting here (from Ohio) one of the key things we did was tour an elementary and a middle school. We also got out into the streets where we eventually bought and we talked to parents.
