We have 2 girls(9&10yr) having allergies and constant cough for 3wks now. I have used Benedryl, tylenol allergy/cold,Claritin,Allegra,Robitussin,and Zyrtech.
We moved from the NW to SW in last month also, so I am wondering if that has something to do with it???
What are you guys using for pollen allergies with your kids?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The Month of May has come and allergies have mostly gone away.
I still am coughing and now found out the home we moved into had plumbing problems and now has black mold. We are now planning to move hopefully to Florida!

I give my son Clarinex and Singulair every morning. When it gets windy outside and he starts to cough I give him a breathing treatment of Albuterol. He has been on this for about 4 years. He is 7 years old. I also have plastic coverings on his pillows and his mattress. It protects from dust mites. I also have an Ionic Breeze in his room.

It is probably best to check with an allergist. My son and I go to Dr. Sean McKnight in Henderson. He is the best. Very up to date on all of the latest in the field and exceptionally kind and personable. He explains everything in plain English and answers all of your questions. My son, who is 3, was just tested this afternoon, and I found out he had more food allergies than I realized. He is on Singulair and nasonex. He takes pulmacort every night and albuteral (as needed)for persistent cough related to allergies/asthma.

Las Vegas mix is a homeopathic remedy that works wonders. You can get it at Wild Oats or possibly Wholefoods.

Hi There.
I am a "native" Las Vegan..and STILL have problems with allergies... The desert blooms are horrible for allergy sufferers. As for advice..I have tried a few things with my kids..but the one that seems to work, and was recommended my my pediatrician, is Zyrtec. It is over the counter now too, and the childrens liquid doesn't seem to bad..meaning, I don't have to "bribe" my 3 and 7 year old to take it. I give my son, the three year old a dose each night (recommended by his doc) to keep jis allergies at bay.
Hope this helps.

My girls' (twin 4yo) doctor have them on Clarinex. It works really good. I use the adult version. I went through your list before we got to Clarinex. They also sleep with a humidifier (warm) and air purifier. Both help, especially the humidifer. We also live in Southwest, with Spring and trees and flowers blooming, it can be a task to keep in check. Good Luck.

Hi, we have been using Singulair, daily, for about a year on our almost 3 yr old. It helps. When the wind kicks in we also have to use Zytec at night. Good luck. My older daughter was on the same from about 10 months untilk 3.5 and then we took her off and she is fine.
