Has anyone had allergic reaction to aromatherapy?? I started to break out the other day and I thought it was really wierd because I haven't done that since I was about 13 years old.... and its been four days now and my face is so puffy and itchy and very sharp pains and the only thing that I can think that could have caused it is the aromatherapy study that I was doing for one of my coworkers.........

it's to the point where I can't sleep and I want to cry!!! Lol Anyone suggest anything to tame the swelling and itch? I was thinking benadryl but I'm not sure I've never really experienced allergic reactions to anything....

any input would be appreciated Thanks

What can I do next?

Benedryl ASAP and stop the case study for your friend. Your health is not worth risking for her study.

I felt very weird for a couple of days while on vacation in FL this past July. I had just started an antibiotic that I had taken before. My gut instinct was to stop the antibiotic which I did. My hubby would not let me sleep until I saw the Dr for fear that I would not wake up.

My Dr. told me if I had continued taking this medication and gone to sleep, I could have died. YES, you can get an allergy even if you have used a certain product before.

Liz,

I hope you took some benadryl and stopped the aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is great (as long as YOU are NOT allergic to any of the ingredients being used) I'm allergic to ragweeds and have a hard time finding natural lotions without chamomile, or sunflower or safflower, etc. Do you know what you are allergic to? Good luck and I hope you're feeling better. you may need to call your doctor or go to a dermatologist if it doesn't get better soon. ~C.~

YES! Eucalyptus in any form can make me break out and induce an asthma attack. Take Benadryl and maybe use the cream form too.

If you have allergies, any form of what you're allergic to will cause issues for you.

Bless your heart! I'm allergic to lavendar (found out the hard way making sachets) and I did the same thing, only I figured it out right away and took Benadryl.

I would say that if you remove yourself from the study you should be fine, but if you get worse or aren't better by Monday you need to see a doctor.

Get a non drowsy pill with antihistamine in it and that'll help a lot.
