Im going to do my first st pattys day party. My husband loves this holiday and is very proud of our shared irish blood. Ive thrown all other kind of parties but this one is new to me. He only gets to be in town for like 4 days a month (if that) so id like to make it fun, and memorable. Any and all ideas very welcome, or you can just respond withcomplaints.... memories.... random syllables, thats ok too. :)

Hi A.-

I am of irish descent...and every st paddy's day I make irish soda bread and scones (all kinds of recipes out there...but for THIS day I stick to the 'traditional' ones...as my ancestors may have made it). I also make the 'corned beef and cabbage'...which my kids 'tolerate', but I LOVE! I also make colcannon...which is basically mashed potatoes with leeks and bacon and TONS of butter...the kids request this year round - but anything slathered in butter is good...lol

I drink a good stout (if I can find it) or a dark ale (and throw a few IN with the corned beef for that matter).

I used to leave the kids a 'pot of gold' wrapped candies...

Have Fun!

Make the pot of corned beef and cabbage. Have some Guinnes, Baileys and some Jamesons on hand. Everyone should have their green hat or a button. Play some celtic music, drunk people like to try to jig... it's pretty funny.
I'm Irish too, and once everyone has a few drinks they all become Irish and it just goes from there. Fun times. Enjoy.
Usually everyone drinks till they are pist and then the corned beef and cabbage tastes absolutely delicious.
