Allergies or Not??

I would get tested for allergies before you pay someone big money to check for mold. The same thing used to happen to me. We moved out of a fantastic inexpensive rental home because of the mold (which I was sure I was allergic to). A year later I was tested and I have no mold allergy. I am however deathly allergic to dust mites and severely allergic to dust. Now we live in another fantastic rental, but we pay a lot more.

The moral: Get tested to find out what you are allergic to before you pay out the nose for something you may have no allergy to. It's a lot cheaper.

usually we don't get 'allergic' to a home until we have been there for a while and the dust has built up. Buy allergy type covers for all your bed pillows to seal out dust while you sleep. Also you may want to get your carpets steam cleaned. We have used AEI consultants for mold inspection. They had a flat fee and then a fee for each sample taken in bedrooms and one right outside. They should be able to quote you for that in advance.

I have to say I agree with you.....this allergy season has been terrible. I wake up every morning sneezing with a drippy,runny nose that eventually throughout the day goes away only to return in the evening. I do not think it has anything to do with my house (but you never know) my sons allergies have been worse this year too...he has had 2 asthma like attacks in the last 4 weeks. I have heard of dogs that sniff for mold...i think he is in torrance...anyways good luck hope our suffering ends soon. If your husband is in an air-conditioned room all day he would indeed feel better because of the clean dry air.

Sometimes a lot of light and fresh air create a bad enviroment for mites and mold. Carpets are almost always bad news. A dark room will only benefit you for computer and television set viewing as well as giving a decrease in dust. I think the weather in California has been extremely irregular this year. There might be some out of season "blooming"or polenating of plants. Do you think the Fires ( of California) could be affecting you ?
In Chinese herbal medicine, there are some teas that have worked well for a friend of mine with severe hay fever but she had to start drinking it 6 months before the "blooming" of cedar cones.I wish I knew more about allergies besides how annoying they can be but Good luck!!

My whole family has been suffering from the same thing.... also since August! You think it must be the house because it is worst first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and doesn't seem as bad during the day when you are out and about.

I really think it is an external allergy of some sort - tree mold or some late pollen. We have been living here for two years and it is the first time we have had it.... I have been asking around and many others have it too so maybe ask your doctor what allergies are particularly bad at this time of year.
