My 6 1/2 month old baby hardly eats. She gets up by 6.30 and i breastfeed her. She used to eat a bowl of baby food in the morning about 9 am again at around 2pm. But if i breastfeed her in between then she doesnt eat lunch. But off late she doesnt want it in solid form. So i make it a little more watery and feed it in a bottle. But she just doesn't want to eat anymore. She keeps spitting it out. This has been happening for the past 1 week. Is it normal ? But when i breastfeed her she drinks happily.

What can I do next?

Another agreement that she's not ready yet. Give her time. My daughter was exclusively on breastmilk/formula until she was 8 mos old. She's now at 90/95% for height and weight at 3 years old.

you know, in all honesty, your baby doesnt really need solid foods for nutrition until around a year old, especially if breastfed. SO, i would encourage you to just breastfeed as much as possible and as much as needed to nourish your little girl. that will be more than enough :)

you can feed her solids if shes interested, and when shes interested. you dont HAVE to feed her solids, no matter what anyone may say; some moms dont feed solids at all until their babies are a year old, and they actually have less allergies and/or digestive issues than babies who are fed solids early (especially the earlier solids are fed, the higher the risk of allergies and misc)

so anyway, just keep doing what you are doing; being a great mom and breastfeeding. :) breastmilk is the most perfect food for your infant, and it does change and grow based on your daughter's age and needs. :) yes, breastmilk changes as time goes on, and its always the most perfect food for your baby! :) :) its the most amazing stuff on the planet. :) so just keep nursing, im sure that in a "minute" your little girl will be eating like crazy again :)

Could your baby be teething? Sometimes when baby are teething they lose their appetite.

SHe is probably not ready for solid foods right now. Breastmilk is all she really needs for the first full year. My girls didn't really start eating solids until they were about 9 months old. Just wait and try again.

I agree with those suggesting she isn't ready for solids. Breastmilk/formula is all that's necessary for the first year so I wouldn't worry about her refusing the solids at this point.

Listen to her. She is telling you she isn't ready for anything other than breast milk. At her age, she doesn't need anything more. I would stop trying the cereal (especially in a bottle, that is not a safe way to feed) for a few weeks, then try again, with the spoon. It is very normal. As long as she is nursing, wetting diapers, and growing and developing like she should be/has been, I would not be too worried. Good luck.

Sounds like she is just not ready for solids. Put away the cereal and try again in a few weeks. Neither of my kids really ate anything but breastmilk unitl around 8 months. It's OK to let her play around with the food without really eating anythng. Do not put the cereal in a bottle, ever. All you're doing is trying to get her to eat food that is inferior nutritionally to breastmilk for her which means she will eat less of the food that is best for her at this time. Sounds like she knows what she wants and what will keep her most healthy, listen to your baby!

babies are funny. They all ready know what they want and when they want it. Your baby will start eating when she gets hungry. Right now she only wants your breast milk. I know this may sound silly to you but, as a mother of five I found out that children are born with a will. They will do what they want when they want to. Try to alternate between the breast milk and meal. I mean start with your breast and then incorportate some food. That is just an idea. I never could breast feed my children because I have always been on medication so I don't know if you can do that. However it is just a thought.
