3 Months Pregnant Looking for Workout Plan

Hi Everybody~
I found out I was pregnant about a month ago... I'm excited and super nervous at the same time. I was on the HCG diet trying to lose weight because I am 80 pounds overweight. Now that I am pregnant, I'm still trying to eat healthy and take care of myself and limit the amount of weight gain. I'm walking when it's not too hot, and starting to swim. I've read that prenatal yoga is good for you and helps prepare your body for labor. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a Prenatal Yoga DVD that is for inexperienced, not very flexible, people. I can't really afford a gym membership, which is why I'm looking for a good DVD. And any
tips for minimizing weight gain, or where to get plus size maternity wear... I'm trying to take care of me without doing anything that can hurt the baby. If anyone can share their success stories (and not so successful) I'd appreciate it!

What can I do next?

I was overweight with both of my pregnancies and gained around 20-25 with each. I just tried to eat properly and tried not to overindulge too much. You can buy plus size maternity wear at Motherhood Maternity, JC Penney online and now Old Navy carries plus size maternity wear on the website. I would usually buy plus size maternity bottoms for comfort and would try to buy regular plus size clothes for my tops and just bought a size bigger than I normally wear. A lot of styles now are looser on top or have empire waist and they work great for maternity wear and look for stretchy fabrics. I did not start to show until around month 5 because I had very bad morning sickness and lost weight the first 3 months. Look on craigslist and ebay also for plus size maternity wear... I just sold all of mine on ebay. Good luck!

I was 100 lbs overweight when I got pregnant the last time. With two previous miscarriages, I wasn't taking any chances! Cold turkey, I cut out all caffeine, even chocolate, ate healthy, and just walked. I LOST weight the first 4 months by doing that. Now, I have a very healthy 14 year old who doesn't have a weight problem like his mom.

I dont have a good prenatal one but here is one that is great after the baby is born (you do the excersises with the baby so it makes it so much easier) I know this not what your looking for but hope it will help after your birth. They might even make a great prenatal one as well. ((HUGS))

Good Luck! If you keep up the excercise no matter how tough, it will pay off. I was about 30lbs overweight and excercised the entire pregnancy. I gained a lot less wait than with my 1st child.
See if there is somewhere around that teaches prenatal yoga, great way to meet other mothers.

You can also check out your city's rec center. I took prenatal yoga through there.

I don't have any workout suggestions but as far as maternity clothes try Kohl's, JC Penney and also check to see if there is a Kid to Kid near you. They have more than just kids clothes - they also have maternity wear and at awesome prices. Matherhood Maternity is nice but way too expensive for me - also check out the regular plus size clothes in general, it doesn't have to be maternity as long as it fits so don't limit yourself to just the maternity sections. I bought a lot of my maternity stuff in the "real" sections and just went up a couple sizes. Congrats on your pregnancy and good for you for taking care of your health! Don't give up!

I'm a certified prenatal fitness specialist, and own Stroller Strides of Arlington/Mansfield/Hurst. I see tons of pregnant moms at our workout everyday, including myself! (I'm also 12 weeks preggo).

I have two recommendations. #1 please don't focus on the weight you gain or don't gain, focus on proper nutrition for your growing baby. You should be eating whole, natural food, as close to it's original state as possible. Get plenty of protein and fruits/veggies! #2 It's never too late to start an exercise program, Stroller Strides is available if you would like to try a week for free, but a simple program of walking can also help you to take steps toward a healthier pregnancy. You can also search for a simple strength training plan for pregnancy and do easy moves in your home with no equipment at all (not even a dvd is necessary!).

You are welcome to email me if you have questions or would like to know more about Stroller Strides(its for prenatal and postpartum moms). Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Knowing what, if any, foods to avoid is very important, and combined with exercise would benefit both you and your baby. I recommend Dr. Larry Davis, Davis Wellness Center. My family and I have been working with him for the past 3 years and have definitely experienced weight loss and better health because of it. http://www.daviswellnesscenter.com/

Blessings,
