Walkie talkies recommendation

I want to get my son walkie talkies for his 5th birthday, but I cannot find any with decent reviews. I was thinking the Fisher-Price kid tough ones would be perfect except that the reviews were not good at all. Anybody know if it’s possible to get walkie talkies that work well for kids? The ones not made for kids seem pretty pricey…worth it??

My experience with the ones made for kids was that they were all junk. At one point, after wasting money on kid ones that had about a 20 ft. range, I decided to buy nice ones from Best Buy. The kind that families can use if they are needing to keep in touch when they’re out and about. They were the best purchase. We used them in the mall, in Disney World, in Mexico, on road trips with other families – you name it we used them. And they were easy for the kids to use as well – and fun.

I got the Talkabout fr60 by Motorola when our son wanted to +
ride his bike to school. They carried about a mile in flat areas. great for time at Great America or any other theme park as well as just for play.
Not sure if they are still available at the stores but you could probably get them on e-bay. I know when my son lost when when he was out in the woods across the street from our house. I was able to go in on e-bay and just find one. they have 14 different channels and a clip on the back for easy carrying. I know that has been quite a few years ago but you never know.

Good Luck,
Sigrid
