"Trying new summer camps"

I went through alot trying to find a safe daycare for my children. One day care was taking children to a private home while the inspector was there and another one wasn't totally sanitary. I have finally found a place that I am comfortable with. They have been there for four years. This facility has a summer camp. My daugher went last year. It was okay. I would like to try her at a different summer camp that might be a little more interesting to her, but I'm have been a little nervous due to my experience. What do you think?

Hi Keya,

Although you don't say where you are located, if you're near Itasca, I recommend St. Luke Lutheran Christian Care. They are wonderful! Not only do they have before, during and after care during the school year, they also have a great summer camp program. My kids have attended for any years now and they absolutely love it (the price is lower than many in the area also). For infomation, or a tour of the facility, call 630-773-3838 and speak with Mr. Tom.

Good luck on your search. Nothing is more important than your children and if your gut instinct is telling you something, listen.

W/o all the info....try Park Districts for summer camps. they are usually a blast for the kids, follow rules, and low priced. We loved them.

I'm not sure where u are located. But you can try Living Lord Lutheran Preschool.
They are holding summer camps. 1 week in June, 1 in July and 1 in August.

Ditto on park districts, also try local colleges and universities...

Plan your summer on campus now!

My kids (now 12 and 9) and friends of mine with kids have enjoyed a wide range of summer camps. Here are my suggestions:

  • YMCA camps (loved the one at the Lincoln Ave/Belmont Y)
  • Park district (quality varies, so check them out)
  • JCC (Jewish Community Centers) but diverse kids attend. There are some great ones including one at UIC and there are some bus services from JCC to day camp locations
  • Summer Lab at the University of Chicago Lab School
  • Super Summer Sports Camp at the University of Chicago (athletics department)
  • And check out other colleges and universities

Hi Keya. Check out All Aboard Learning Express; Devon/Pulaski area. I worked there when I started my teaching career and now my son attends there. They have full time summer camp/daycare for $175 a week 6:00 AM -6:00 PM five days a week. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it if you're in the area! Good Luck.

This is a great website. I feel like we are all family. Thank you for all your advice. I’m located in chicago. I will definitely take every location close to me into consideration. I would like to thank everyone for responding to my situation
