We are frequent travelers, but always within the states, which makes traveling easier since you can rent car seats from every car rental, etc. We will be traveling to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a friend’s wedding in April. Once we are there, we will be required to travel to the rehearsal dinner and church, which means we will need to take a taxi cab. I know car seats are not required in Mexico, but I would obviously feel safer with a car seat, the only problem is that we would need to carry the car seat with us at all the events…does anyone have any suggestions? My son will turn 2 just a couple weeks before our trip. I have thought about seat belting him in the back seat with us, but don’t know if I could really result to that once we are there ??
Buy a portable car seat that will fit easily in your luggage. They may not be heavy duty but it will provide the 5 point harness that is crucial to safety. I found one at

and for only $30.00 it provided peace of mind and caused little effort to haul around.
What a great place to go! I went there a few years ago in June for my honeymoon. It was very hot and humid, but neat. I don't have much advice as far as how to handle the car seat ordeal, but I do know that the streets are much narrower than here and the taxis drive very fast. My husband and I thought we would get into an accident for sure, but didn't. There were people swerving in and out of their lane and flying through down town. I know as a parent of two little ones I would feel more comfortable using a car seat there. Perhaps you could contact your hotel and see if they have any suggestions. There were taxi drivers all over and our hotel would call for one any time we needed it. I hope they can help you. Good luck!
