My husband and I are in desperate need of a vacation this summer. We will be bringing the kiddos along (3.5 and 13mo). I’m not sure where we want to go because this will be our first time traveling with the kids to somewhere other than a relative’s home. We always go to the beach when it’s just us and are looking for some creative suggestions that are kid friendly and relaxing - if that can be combined! We are indifferent to flying or driving, either is fine. Also, not spending a ton of money is important so any ideas for that would be helpful too.
When my daughter was a year old and my son was 8, we went to Sea World in San Antonio. It is so kid-friendly. Take your double stroller---or rent one there---and it is great. That has always been one of my favorite places. Good Luck deciding and have fun!! :)
Try that new place in Grapevine - Wolf Creek Lodge. I agree Sea World is great, but be prepared to be HOT!! My extended family lives there and we have taken the kids, but it is hot. Also, you can't take any food in anymore so it will be pricey. I have 4 kids and we just now started taking them on vacations because we feel that if they aren't old enough to remember the vacation, why not just use that time to focus on the marriage until they can know what you are doing and remember it. The kids won't enjoy what you are doing like you think (going to a park vs. going to the beach). From a mom of a 10,8,5,& 2yr. old enjoy your relationship with your spouse now and when the kids are older and they can enjoy the vacation as well, then take them. You and your spouse won't have much time together as the kids get older. There's nothing wrong with focusing on each other first.
My family (which is me 2 sisters one brother & mine & my sisters spouses & sons.. all from ages 1 to 28) has always gone to schlitterbahn in New Braunfels! They have rooms to stay in, in the park that are not expensive so you can stay at the park all day... nap time is easy... you can take food & drink in & if you dont want to go all day they offer half day passes after lunch time! Its really kid friendly! there's a whole "baby" section that is really well monitered & most of the water in the park is regular water from the rivers! Not too much chlorine! & there is a lot to do in New Braunfels also for families not just the river! Theres a town called Gruene nearby that is great! Google it all! There are a lot of helpful websites that pop up! I enjoy this trip every year! & Now with my 2 year old little boy its even more fun!
