Removing Beet Stains

My husband dropped a pickled beet on his white shirt, leaving a lovely purple stain.

What do you recommend to get it out?

Thanks, mamas!

First I'd say really, really hot water on a dish towel, dabbed on the stain from both sides (not rubbed), over and over till the stain is lessened. Then hit of bleach and throw in the wash asap. Good luck!

You could try Soilove. It works on getting out blod and all kinds of stuff. It's with the laundry aids in most stores.
I know dollar tree, save mart and safeway all carry it.
I apply it directly to the stain and let it sit while another load runs, then wash it, no bleach necessary.
Good luck!

Hi Yolanda,

If you mix about a half cup of OxiClean with about four cups of water and let the material soak in it - the stain should come right out. A pen blew up on my white shirt and this trick got those stains out!

Good luck!

A product called Wine-Away works on most red/purple stains. Spray it directly on the stain and you should see it strat fading. It's more widely available these days.

Oxy clean spray. In the summer my 9 year old was at a bithday party wearing his favorite white t-shirt. The kids decided to have a water fight (which turned into a soda fight) and his shirt was covered in puple from grape soda. When he got home I doused it in oxy clean spray and let it sit for a few hours, then I washed it and the shirt is white as new.

Hi - I am a BIG fan of Nature's Miracle -- you can get it at a pet supply store -- It is great for all kinds of biologic stains -- and odors too...Good Luck!

Dear Yolanda,
We just got wine stains out of a wedding dress by using Oxy Clean. I couldn't believe it came out, but it did. With no damage to the dress at all.
I hope you get some other advice...I will be watching for it and forwarding it on to others! I haven't dealt with beet stains yet....

Peroxide poured over the stain, sprinkle the entire stain with oxy-clean, then spray that with spray and wash until oxi-clean is all wet. Let sit 2-3 min then take an old toothbrush and scrub the stain...then throw it in the wash. As long as you haven't dried the shirt with this stain...this should work. It's a little extra work, but it works for me!!! Good luck hope this helps. ~Samantha~

I found OxiClean at Walgreen’s, and it took care of the stain. My husband was thrilled!
