Random Question: How often do you bake?

By bake I mean make a confectionery or pastry. I made a spice cake this weekend. I don't bake very often (maybe once every 2 months) because my husband isn't a big sweets eater and because something bad usually happens when I do bake something. My husband put the spice cake into the oven for storage. Later, I turned on the oven and melted all the icing off the cake before realizing it was in there. The time before that, my husband forgot to grease the Bundt cake pan and the cake got stuck. My sister says most people only bake around the holidays (she seriously never bakes...ever) and that made me curious so I thought I would ask. Thanks for answering!

Hardly ever because I have no willpower when it comes to baked goods!

i love to bake...usually make something at least once or twice a week now that it's cooler temps. and i make things from scratch, not from a box. makes me feel all betty crockerish :)

At least 4X a month. Whether it be cookies, a cake (usually for someone else), banana bread... I love baking.

I love to bake but I'm like you. My hubby doesn't eat sweets and I don't like to have my kids eating junk all the time. I do something maybe every couple of months. Usually cookies. For Christmas though, I go in for a whole day and make cookies for everyone I know.

I recently started baking once a week with my 2 1/2 year old son. It's great bonding time plus it teaches him lots of things. We bake all kinds of stuff. Bread, cookies, cakes, muffins.

I bake something every couple of weeks. I made cookies last night and brownies last week. My aunt makes cookies and cakes all the time to take to work.

I bake maybe once or twice a month whenever I have a sweet tooth. I bake more during the winter, as the oven heats up the house and in Texas summers, you don't want to heat up the house!

When I bake once a month, I often make Blonde Brownies. PM me if you want the recipe. Easy and tasty. I also made some yummy beer bread recently. VERY easy. Didn't have to wait for any yeast to rise or anything. I make banana bread and boxes of brownies. SOMEtimes cookies, but not as often as brownies.

Baking is the only thing I think I do well. I am always nervous about over-cooking or under-cooking meat. I always seem to mess up when I try to recreate mymom's yummy rice dish recipes.

Once a week if I am lucky. I like to bake, but don't always get a chance. I did get to make cookies with my son this weekend, and he learned that he LOVES chocolate chips.

Maybe every other week. We don't eat them at home (I take them to Bible study, friend's houses, etc.), but if something needs to be brought I am usually asked to bring a baked good or I volunteer to. Enjoy your baking! (Even if it does become a mess!)

I bake often. I'm kinda obsessed with it actually. I started making christmas cookies about 3 years ago, and had so much fun that day, and after 8 hours of work, I was in awe of the things I had created. I then became cupcake obsessed. I now do parties, showers, Etc. I tend to use my own ideas, and rarely go by a recipe, and I find its so much better when you start adding things that aren't meant to be there. Later this week, I'm having a gathering, and I'm making a pumpkin cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese filling, and whipped cream cheese icing, but I doubt I'll look at any recipe.

One thing I love to do is use something basic like a can of pilsbury cinnamon rolls, and just add to it and do my own version of a pastery. I put diced apples, butter and brown sugar in a 12 count muffin pan, then place each cinnamon roll upside down on top of it, once it's baked, you just flip it over onto a towel or large plate, and you have the best apple cinnamon desert straight out of a bakery that would have cost $10 a dozen, but I do it with the $1.99 can of rolls.

You asked how often I bake, and I got a little carried away. LOL. I am truly obsessed. Check out the pics of my latest creations. -Mostly cupcakes.

I used to bake 1 or 2 times per month, because I have a sweet tooth and hubby likes 'em, too. I don't as much any more because of time and because a toddler + hot oven = asking for trouble.

I did just bake a batch of lemon bars for DH (he loves lemon/citrus), and for me, a batch of chocolate chip cookie bars.

What I do occasionally, which has been actually better for us, is to take a batch of cake (we like the Triple Chocolate Bomb cake) and make it in muffin tins and freeze it. Then, we eat less (because it's not sitting on the counter) and there are 12-24 servings waiting in the freezer that are nice to pop out & warm up in the microwave for 20-30 seconds & serve w/ ice cream--it's great for a nice after-the-baby's-in-bed share-a-dessert-with-hubbie thing, or a quick dessert for guests.

I'm looking forward to doing something with apples--I bought several kinds on sale. I'll probably do some apple crumble, and then cut up and freeze some apple pie filling for later.

I love baking. Things don't always turn out perfect, of course, but usually at least part of it is edible. My mom was a baker and she made homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, all our birthday cakes, apple pie, pumpkin pie, etc. It makes me feel connected to her.

I did have to learn to do it mostly myself, and the baking times still sometimes throw me.... or I get distracted & leave it in too long (like last nights enchiladas).

I bake regularly.....as do my sons (age 14 & 23). It is a comfort thing for us! We do both sugar-free (my husband is a diabetic) & traditional baking. My sis & her kids also bake. At our reunion this past wkend, my niece had prepared 3 different desserts.....after working at school all day!!! Proud of her!

BUT I was raised with baking a huge part of my childhood. On Black Friday, we didn't shop...we baked with my grandmother. By the end of the weekend, we'd have over 1000 cookies ready to be distributed between friends, family, & neighbors! How's that for a family legacy? !!

I bake all the time a few times a week more now that it's Fall & Holiday's pies galore I make cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies, cakes, brownies, bundt cakes, peach crisp just last nite, biscuits, cupcakes,I love to bake really I do I love sweets my kids get a kick out what I make for them they can't wait till dinner is over to indulge in a little something...So no for me I don't just bake during Holiday's

Usually once a week. My boyfriend isn't huge on sweets either. I usually like to bake a lot of muffins. They freeze well, last awhile in the fridge, and are easy to pack for his lunch. Same with cookies, breads, home made biscuits, etc. I also send lots of extras with him for him to share with his co-workers.
A lot of his co-wrokers don't have wives/girlfriends. If they do, the girls don't bake/cook. So I like to give them a treat.
I have baked muffins the last couple of weeks, so I think I am going to make some Halloween sugar cookies, and cupcakes. Then after that apple turnovers for fall....mmmmmmm. Home made cinnamon rolls are good too.

I love to bake and do so often! I usually take it to work to share after we've had some at home. I was in a baking frenzy this weekend. Two loaves of bread, yellow layer cake with chocolate frosting for my son's birthday, and chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting just because I was already baking and had been wanting to try the recipe! They were delicious by the way. And don't be discouraged by your "mistakes" - baking is a lost art, and practice makes perfect!

when the weather starts remaining cool for the season, I start to bake just about everything. Lots of casseroles and cobblers.... its the best way to warm up the house and make it smell special when coming in from the cold. The more you do it the more you will enjoy it. It gives you something to look forward to after bbqing all summer. Like, we never eat meatloaf in summer, it's one of our winter meals, many are reserved just for winter time.

I bake maybe once a month, I wish I did it more. Many of my friends bake weekly, including breads and rolls from scratch.

about 3-4 times a month, some months more other months less... I love to bake, tired of cooking...

I bake every couple of weeks.
