I recently made a request asking for baby carrier suggestions. I like the looks of the Moby Wrap and wondered if anyone had an opinion on whether to purchase the Original Moby Wrap or the Moby D. The info on the website isn't very detailed. The only difference I can see is that the Moby D is slightly shorter, has fancier fabric, and is $20 more. Am I missing something here? Is there anything about the Moby D that makes it far superior to the Original Moby wrap or would I just be paying more for the fancier fabric??
I think you're right that the only difference is that the Moby D is shorter and has the fancier fabric panel. I did a lot of research on wraps too and that is the only difference I could see. Also check out the Sleepywrap. I was going to get a Moby wrap but ended up getting a Sleepywrap and LOVE it. I still use it for my 14 month old, especially when travelling. The website is www.sleepywrap.com. Good luck with your decision and congratulations!
i have never tried the Moby D but i got the original moby a few weeks ago. After looking into it, i saw people said it was difficult to master the wrap and many said they switched to a front pouch or sling i was nervous when it arrived that i wouldn't be able to do it. but right out of the package i got it on and had my son in it perfectly. He loves it and so do i. It doesn't even feel like i am carrying him!
First and foremost, the moby rocks. I have recommended it so many times, but it is the superior wrap, in my opinion!
I got the MOBY D. You're right, the website isn't all that helpful. I debated for several weeks. Here is what I thought.
It is shorter, and I think that is helpful. When you are wrapping, especially when you aren't at home, it's helpful.
It is cut so you can tie it on the side. I thought it would be better than the knot being in your back.
The fabric in the front is supposed to be less stretchy, so it is more secure. Also, it helps you find the front quickly. I got the brown one.
I used this wrap every day for six weeks, honestly, every day. I have used it countless times since then. My baby loves it. My toddler, who will be two soon, also loves it! It really can carry a lot of weight, unlike the other types of slings/carriers. I thought that because I would use it so much for this baby, and in the future, it was worth the extra few dollars. I have been grateful that I splurged for the moby d, rather than the original.
Good luck!
p.s. I ordered off of ebay, and didn't pay any shipping. It was new, as there are several dealers that you can order from.
