Need help finding a venue for an outdoor wedding and reception

My sister just got engaged and would really like to have an outdoor wedding and reception without spending tons of money, she doesn't have much in the bank and wants to get married soon. She would actually really like to have the wedding on my 2 acres of land but I don't think it is a good idea. I don't have enough parking and I really don't want 100+ people in and out of my house all day using the bathroom ect. Any idea or suggestions would really be appreciated. She is hoping for an August wedding if that makes a difference.

Thank you Mamas!

One place to look into is the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake. A friend of mine had a beautiful wedding there and was able to keep costs down by having a friend cater, another friend DJ, etc. It's a quaint setting. Here's the link: http://www.prairiecrossing.com/pc/site/barn_index.php

Hope that helps!

Two ideas. A friend of mine hosted a wedding for her SIL at her house. They rented portable toilets. Yes, there really are nice ones not portapotties. I saw one that was a tailer with two stalls and sinks inside. Believe it or not they had granite countertops. My friend did not allow anyone inside her home. They rented huge tents so it really was nice and would be okay with rain. Check into all this before you offer your land though :)

Another option is that many of the local towns have gazebos in their towns. Often you can rent those inexpensively and then have the reception somewhere else.

Good luck!

I would second the 'porta potty' rental idea. My MIL did that and the toilet actually had flowers in it! But that can be expensive. Renting tables, tents, etc, can be expensive, too. Off site catering (where they have to bring in their own ovens, etc) is $$$. She should probably look into friday night and/or sunday wedding as they usually offer substantial discounts for those times. Or a brunch/morning wedding reception. If she can't afford a sit down dinner, then don't do it. Sometimes a church will offer their big meeting rooms for the reception. You could literally have cake and punch and get away quite cheaply. Or how about just having champagne and a big table of sweets?

I got married on 7/1 and it was close enough to a 'holiday' that they threw in 1. top shelf liquor and 2. bride's room for free!
