I am almost 7 weeks pregnant and MISERABLE! The "morning" sickness has slowly been kicking in for the last week or so. I don't have morning sickness so much as I have all-day sickness. It's gotten to the point where I'm nauseous all day long, nothing sounds good to eat and if I force myself to eat...well let's just say it doesn't end well. I've tried Club crackers and Ginger Ale (which worked with my 7 year old), just Ginger Ale, not eating (which isn't much of an option), eating and just dealing with the aftermath. I'm running out of ideas and sanity! What kind of sick joke is it to make a pregnant women nauseous, hungry and unable to eat?! :(
I need help. Anything and everything that worked for you ladies while pregnant...please tell me! Something has got to give.
I feel your pain! I am 19 weeks pregnant and I STILL have morning sickness!! GAH! It's gotten a bit better if I avoid all the things I like. laughs
One things that helped on my worst days was to make chicken and rice. I boiled some rice in chicken stock with some small bits of chicken (leftovers work well), carrots and celery. I make it so that it was like a thick soup. Not to runny not to solid. It seemed to give me the least amount if trouble. Also sipping ice cold water helped me. I do the ice water for heartburn too.
Best of luck and congrats on the new addition to your family!!!
You poor thing. I felt the same way during my first pregnancy. My doctor prescribed Phenigren for me, and it was my best friend. The nausea subsided immediately.
My other suggestion is to find one food item that sounds good to you, and keep it with you at all times. Mine was PB&J on english muffins.
i am sooo sorry!!!
and especially having young children, that makes it a lil bit tougher also. i am currently pregnant with our 4th, and this time around what helped me was to eat a toasted bagel....pretty much the only thing i could eat in the morning sickness stage. when i was pregnant with my 1st, i had morning sickness til i was about 7-8 months. i could hardly eat anything, and i lost a lot of weight. my doctor prescribed promethazine (i dont know if i spelled that right) it worked great on the vomitimg/nausea, but made me really sleepy (and crabby). fortunately, Sylvia came out completely healthy.
good luck to you!!!

Oh you poor thing. I've been there & it's awful. I had it all day as well & please remind yourself that it's only temporary & it will pass. Crackers & ginger ale or anything "Ginger" made me sick! What worked for me was a list of items. I'll just tell you what they were & hopefully you can find some relief. Fruit popsicles or Italian Ice. Pretzles instead of crackers - the sticks were better. TUMS, iced tea-non sweetened. Peppermint is a natural stomach calmer. Try gum & mints. I wish you the best. You WILL get through it. Try & rest as much as you can & eat small meals or snacks. Good luck!
Are you taking your prenatal vitamin in the morning? I had a friend who had to take hers at night or else she was very sick. Maybe eat a light snack before bed and then take it.
Hi Elizabeth,
The right nutrition can help with this. I know you want to be careful what you take, but most prenatals that doctors recommend are very lacking in some of the vital things you and your baby need. Please contact me off line if you want to learn what others take to help with morning sickness: [email protected]
I just delivered a baby 2 months ago.. and I had the same problem.. This may sound crazy but with my first and this one, I had stomach upset. Salt n vinegar chips helped settle my stomach, I swear it has something to do with the vinegar maybe.. but it worked.. also, with this preg nothing ever sounded good.. but I would try to eat a variety of things.. but bbq chicken, bake pot and broccoli never upset my stomach so I ate ALOT of it !! I would eat a bowl of cereal at night, to help with milk.. and I would drink choc milk. If you find something that you can eat, eat it everyday.. some food and keeping down, is better then no food. Also.. I used to eat with all 3 of my preg's cucumber, tomotoe, and onion salad.. I made with miracle whip and vinegar. I ate it all the time.. a good way to get veg's in your diet and it never made me sick. Good luck to you
Try hard lemon candies (lemon drops), not the sugary lemon heads candies. I got mine from Green Farms, they have one in Alliance and on in East Canton (though I think E.C. is closed for the season). You should be able to get them from most bulk stores.
I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my third baby. I too feel sick throughout the day. The homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica is very effective. Homeopathy is very safe and can be used during pregnancy, as well as for babies. You should be able to find this at your local health food store. Also, I've found a cup of peppermint tea works wonders. I hope this helps. Take care.
I had "all day" sickness with all three of my children and actually was hospitalized and also utalized home-health care. You can try "grazing", eating small meals or snacks several times a day instead a full meal three times a day. It helps to not let you get an empty tummy which sometimes helps the sickness. In the end I always ended up on a med called Zofran it was a wonder drug. They will offer you phenergan because it a cheaper drug but it has more side-effects like sleepiness. The Zofran did not make me tired, and it comes in a melt-away form tab. Good luck!!
I feel ya I had the worst sickness ever and it lasted till about 14 weeks. I tried Chicken noodle soup without the noodles, I believe that it was the salty broth that stayed down, then I realised that it was salty things that brought a balance to my stomach. But be careful how much sodium you consume, that is the whole idea about the crackers, is the salt. and ginger is great you can get ginger slices in the pickle Ilse in the store. Just take a nibble and it does work. Good luck.
Try plain boring saltines(Zesta taste best, their texture is flakier) The fat in the club crackers may be too much this time around. Also, try nibbling on the crackers before getting out of bed. I had the same problem with my pregnancy so I feel your pain! Good luck!!
You are going to get so many different answers for this so I hope something helps!!! I am 21 weeks pregnant with my third child and I have never had real severe sickness, but I have certainly had the constant nausea thing. I found that ginger ale worked for me as well as ginger biscuits (cookies). However, I also had/have a strange craving for smelling lemon. If I ever felt too ill, I would cut a lemon and sniff. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it helped me to eat!
I'm sorry you're feeling so yucky. I had all-day sickness with all three of my pregnancies. I lost 10lbs in my first tri-mester with my third. It's rough. Compounded by the fact that you have two other little ones to care for. Here's my best advice: eat before you even get out of bed. Keep those crackers next to your bed and eat them before you even lift your head off the pillow. Continue to eat throughout the entire day. Just a little something hear and there ... but all day long. Also, I wore the motion-sickness arm bands and those seemed to help as well. You can buy those at any pharmacy. Hope this helps. Hang in there ... not much longer.
I was sick all the time with my first baby--up until (and during!) labor. When I had my second one, someone suggested these wristband/bracelets called Sea Band. People use these for motion sickness, but they worked wonderfully for me for my "pregnant sickness"--it didn't limit itself to only mornings! :-) They are pretty inexpensive--$8.00-$10.00. Do a Google search for Sea Band and there should be a bunch of info. Hope you feel better soon!
I had morning sickness all day with both of my pregnancies and it is really really aweful. With my daughter it only lasted during my 1st trimester but with my son I had it almost the whole time. I remember thinking the same thing - that it must be some kind of cruel joke because when you're pregnant you should be eating well and getting more calories but then the pregnancy makes you sick so you can't eat anything - it doesn't make sense. See if your doctor can prescribe vitamin B6 for you - you can take it in additional to your prenatal vitamins and for some women it relieves nausea. That worked pretty well for me. Also, I got "preggie pops" which are ginger flavored hard candy that you can suck on. There are other flavors too. They sell them at maternity stores like Motherhood and those seemed to help a little too. I also had warm ginger tea and sometimes I could get that down okay - just buy a ginger root, peel it, and boil it in water and drink. A friend of mine actually had to be hospitalized for dehydration a couple times during her pregnancies because she couldn't hold anything down - if you feel like it is getting to that point make sure you let your doctor know because they can prescribe something to help with the nausea. Hopefully yours will pass soon. Hang in there!
I have a friend who swears by Coke, usually more helpful if it's a little flat. Also, I have heard about ginger. I never had to deal with it, I hope these help and you feel better
Being sick is THE WORST! I was sick all the way up until around 12 weeks. I got the wrist bands, which did adsolutely nothing for me. My best friend, who's a pharmacist, told me to try cola syrup. It was the ONLY thing that worked. I lived in PA at the time, and got mine at Eckerd's. So I'm not sure if places even sell it any more. It tasted like flat pop, and I drank it over ice. It wasn't gross at all. It always settled my stomach enough to eat whatever didn't make me puke (which was pretty much only spaghettios!). I was then able to regain energy, go to work, etc.
I also kept water and crackers by my bedside and nibbled on those before I got up every single morning. It helped somewhat, but the cola syrup is what enabled me to live as normal as possible! I hope you find something that works for you!
i went through that with both of my children and it sucks. i think i ate cheerios all day and i drank coke because it is the only thing that settled. so my diet for a while was basicly that. i took somekind of meds on my first child but they made me like super sleepy to where i could not function i don't remember the name. but just remember it gets better it may take a while and honestly nothing really completely works until your body is through that stage of making the baby. just focus on how great having a baby is ( i know that is easier said, than done. but try)
