I used Butt Paste. That's what it is called. You should be able to get it anywhere. I don't use wipes when I'm dealing with diaper rash. I use warm soap and water and let him air dry. It clears right up within a day or two. Good luck!
I second the calmoseptine. It worked wonders on my daughter's diaper rash due to disposables. We've also switched to cloth and she hasn't had a rash since.
plain corn starch...no matter the type of rash...will clear it up. Of course, she'll want the doc to diagnose if it's yeast but it works!
I "think" the recipe is equal parts hydrocortisone & triple anti-biotic ointment, BUT the magic treatment for me has been a product called Calmoseptine, it is not presription but you will likely have to ask the pharmacist for since they usually keep it behind the counter. Sometimes you can find it at costco. Also don't use wipes unless you completely rinse them, even the ones that say "free" on them. As you can tell i have been through this... good luck!
I'm not sure about the magic butt cream, but my daughter use to get the worst diaper rashes - her little bum would literally be raw! And what worked best for us? Corn starch! I swear by it!
Here's what our pediatrician recommended - I only wish I had known about it with our two older children. Use the minty Maylox and swab the whole bottom area with cotton balls. Let air dry and then use the thick Desitin (original formula). The Maylox seems to cut the acid that is on the skin allowing it to heal. Works like a charm!
maylox works for yeast diaper rash...
unfortunately there are more than one type of rash.
burts bees diaper cream works wonders on regular diaper rash... even blistered rash.
hope this helps.
ps I would use extreme caution with any type of cortisone anywhere on the baby but espaecially in the private area - it is a steroid. please consult your physician first.
also my granmother swears by corn starch heated in a cast iron pan! I dont know the burts bees works so I havent really tried any options :)
Don't wait, go to the pharmacy and buy a tube of A&D ointment. It gives instant relief of discomfort and will heal the diaper rash. I also used Desitine ointment. I never heard of making anything myself.

The best diaper rash cream in my opinion is BOURDAUX's BUTT PASTE!!!
magic butt cream is a combination of desitin, nystatin, and maalox. The nystatin is an anti-fungal, a key ingredient, as often a diaper rash has a fungus component. This is by prescription only.
My girls all had sensitive skin. So, I make our butt cream.
1 oz. bees wax
1 cup almond oil or olive oil or apricot kernal oil or any kind you like.
You can use herb infused oil but it takes about 4 - 6 weeks to infuse an oil.
You can add essential oils such as tea tree oil. I don't. I want it SIMPLE.
Heat bees wax in a double boiler when it's melts add 1 cup oil. The bees wax will re-harden because of the cooler oil so just stir it until it remelts & combines.
Add essentail oils if you want to use them. Then, bottle it. I use the teeny tiny jars that you find in the canning area of walmart or any store that has canning supplies.
How this helps!
I do use corn starch. Very Nice.
I was on Hospice but lived longer then 6 months so they dropped me. I got pressure sore as I have to sit all dy and thewir pharmacy invented this but you need a compound pharmacy to make it. Its zinc, vitamim a and d lidocaine 5% hydrophilic oint. 2:2:1:1: the pharmacist knows what the numbers mean. The lidpcaine is the magic ingredient not found in the other Magic Butt Cream. Lidocaine is the real magic cream , as it numbs the skin immediately
I am an RN and NO PHARMACY makes or prescribes it; however, it consists of 1 part zinc oxide cream, 1 part any water barrier such as petroleum jelly and 1 part lidocaine 1% gel. Problem is, you need a prescription for the lidocaine gel (an anesthetic); so if you're not privy to a nursing home, hospital, etc where this stuff is abundant, good luck concocting the potion. Yep, magic all right-it REALLY does work!
Miracle cream recipe:
equal parts
Nystatin ointment (this is the only one you need a script for)
Hydrocortisone 1%
Zinc Oxide
2 oz Zinc oxide
2 oz A+D ointment
1 oz Maalox or mylanta
1 oz Bactracin
Calmoseptine ointment; ask the pharmacist for it. The product is usually behind the counter or special order. The company only sells in case lots to distributors and institutions. If you’re an Amazon.com Prime subscriber ships quickly for free. About a $1 more than Walmart for a single tube but less if you order a 3-pack.
