Kirkland brand diapers from Costco

I've been thinking about purchasing diapers from Costco by Kirkland (size 3) for my 9 month old, but am not sure if they will be worth it. We are members of Costco and go there often for practically all of our family needs, including our baby's formula. Every time I go, I think about buying the Kirkland diapers, but am just not sure about the quality and if they're worth buying (it's not like you can buy a little trial pack since everything there is sold in bulk). We have tried the Target and Safeway brands in the past, but haven't had much luck w/ these ones. It seems that with those (store-brand) ones, we don't necessarily save any more money because we end up with many more leaks and 'blow-outs', and having to do much more laundry in the end. Up until now, we have traditionally used name brand diapers such as Huggies and Pampers, but are thinking about going w/ something cheaper. Any advice or happy/unhappy customers of the Kirkland brand diapers??

Thanks!

We are a huge Costco family too. I buy tons from there, but the same thing...I loved Pampers and did not want to short change our son with discount diapers, but my mother bought me a pack and I really like them. I have been using them since and for us they work great. I have the same amount of leaks. No pee, just once a week a bad poo. I think they are well worth the discount.

Hi Giselle,
I had been wondering the exact same thing up until about a month or two ago. I was a loyal Pampers "Swaddlers" fan when my daughter was a newborn, and then when she grew out of those, I switched to Huggies because they seemed to fit her better than the larger Pampers. I was a dedicated Huggies fan, but had tried some Target store brands every once in a while, just to try to save a buck. I, too, was disappointed, and vowed to stick with Huggies til the end. Then I heard a couple friends saying they liked the Kirkland/Costco brand diapers as well, if not better, than the Huggies. I babysit my niece regularly, and she was wearing a Kirkland size 3. I found them to work great. In fact, they seemed even softer than the Huggies, but with just as much absorbancy and leakage protection. I started buying my daughter the Kirkland size 4's, and I love them. I wish I would have experimented sooner, because not only do I like them as much, if not better (for the softness factor), but they don't leave ink on her pajamas, like the Huggies did. I hated those printed characters, cuz the black ink always wore off and stained some of her clothes. So, anyway, now I'm a loyal Kirkland diaper mom!

Though it's been about 4-5 yrs since I last needed to buy diapers, we did use the Kirkland brand and liked them. But I thought they had discontinued them? They quit selling them, and I was disappointed in having to find a decent replacement. They must be coming back out with them then, and if they are the same as before, I'd say give them a try. I liked them better than Pampers that bunch up in the cotton middle.

Hi Giselle,

My son was a "hard to fit" baby when it came to diapers. He leaked and blew out Huggies and luvs and Seventh Generation, White Cloud and probably some others that I can't remember. The only diaper that ever worked for us after Papmers Swaddlers was Pampers Cruisers and he is still in them. We tried a couple of Kirkland ones from a friend and they were terrible. The bunched up all over the place and leaked after only an hour or so. You could try to find a friend that is using them and ask for a couple to try if you don't want to buy the whole case. And if you buy the case and they don't work then you can donate them to Social Services at your hospital for needy babies. Good luck on your quest. Its a frustrating one at best!

Hi Giselle,

I am about to be a Mom for the 1st time any day now, but a lot of my Mom friends tell me great things about the Kirkland diapers.

I notice you live in San Jose, so I looked on Craigslist and they have this add for Kirkland diapers (the size might be one size too big but..this can help save you money)

Hi Giselle,
I had the same thoughts but started using the Kirkland after several friends recommended them. We switched from Pampers to Kirkland with no problems. Check around with your friends and see if anyone uses them and you can hopefully try them out. That is what I did. They would great, much more absorbent than Pampers. I also like Huggies as well. You can find these at Costco as well. You save quite a bit of money.

Hi,

Have you considered going in on a box with other moms? This would allow you to test the diaper out and see if they work well for your daughter. Some brands seemed to work better for girls than boys.

I used the Kirkland brand years ago for my boys and was very happy with them.

I used Kirkland brand diapers in the past, and had much success with them! Right now though I am using Luvs brand diapers and I couldn't be happier! I shop at target more than costco lately and they carry Luvs at Target so that is the reason for the change. They are also much cheaper, and you can always search for a Luvs coupon online. Hope this helps you out!

Giselle ~ I found that Target brand diapers were GREAT ~ I used them through every step of my son's diaper years (he is 3 now) and preferred them over the more expensive brand names that I tried.

I was hesitant at first too, but I have used the Kirkland diapers and they work great! They are comparable to the Huggies Brand diapers. I would recommend buying a box.

We bought huggies for two years at costco because they were not that much cheaper than the kirkland brand. We were at a dinner party and an employee from Papers told us that costco does not carry Pampers because Pampers woule not let them rebrand their diapers. Our new friend told us that kirkland diapers are in fact Huggies Supreme rebranded. We now buy kirland and have found them to be more absorbaant than regualr Huggies. Another trick, instead of buying night diapers buy the next size up.

I just switched to Kirkland diapers last night, and he woke up dry!! I wasnt sure about the switch either since we had been using Pampers ever since he was born. I love Pampers but to try to save money thought we could try Kirkland. My husband says Im Sure he isnt going to care what kind of diapers he's wearing, so we will see how they work. So far so good!!

Good Luck
Stephanie

We are currently using Kirkland diapers. I was also apprehensive about using them, but they've worked out really well, no leaks. They're great for overnight. They beat out Luvs and Safeway brand, which both leaked on us.

I used the kirkland diapers for my two younger boys who are now 8 and 9 years old...they had big thighs and kirland brand worked better for them then the huggies believe or not...huggies were a little too tight for them around the thigh area. My oldest son who is now 13 used the huggies...what I'm saying is it depends on how well the diaper fit your little one...think of it this way it's a need not a want...your little one needs it so don't feel bad spending a little more on the diaper. Kirkland brand is also similar to the babies r us brand perhaps you could try those first to see if it'll work for you. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Our family also uses Costco for practically everything. We use Kirkland diapers for both my children (ages 2 and 7 mos), and I actually prefer them over Huggies. You could always return them if you're not satisfied as Costco has a 100% satisfacion return policy.

I've been very happy with the Costco brand. A friend had given me her extras -- and they are very similar to Huggies. It's been an easy transition for me. Hope this helps!

i've used them. I think they're just as great as huggies.

Buy 'em!!!

Hi Giselle, I was very aprehensive about about the diapers myself as I receive my first box as a gift. Long story short, I like them a lot more than Target brand. I have two girls and the diapers have held up-no leaks or blow outs! They feature the stretch sides and backing for comfort and they don't leave gel residue like Pampers. I really like Luvs but haven't found bulk paks yetM absorbant and light powder scent. My friends reccommend White Cloud fr Walmart but I haven't tried them yet. Hope this helps!
