Hello Mamas,
I am just wondering about other's experiences with clomid. Specifically how many cycles did you do before you were successful? Did you have any problems? Did you use IUI? If it didn't work, did you try other things to get pregnant and were those successful?
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

We did 3 months of clomid with no luck, but the next month, we did an hsg test and the test cleared my tube (I only have one left after an ectopic) and we got pregnant the same month! My little one is almost 4 now and I couldn't reccomend the hsg test more!!!
I was on Clomid and used it with Provera (initiated a period). I started with 50mg of Clomid for (I think) 5 days. I eventually was up to 150mg before I got pregnant. However, my HCG levels weren't raising as they should have been and I had a miscarriage. This happened three times to us in 18 months, never getting past 5 weeks. I had different health issues going against me too (diabetes, poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) and we gave up. I am happy to say though that about four years later without the aid of any meds and only doing what the fertility doctor had told us to do when it came to intercourse, I did get pregnant and my beautiful son is now 4 month old!
I got pregnant with my son after having HSG test also. I have been trying for a second for almost 2 years and have done 6 rounds of clomid with no luck. I didn't have any problems while taking the medication though. Good luck to you. I hope it works out for you!!
I took clomid for one cycle,,or 5 days. I kept a tempurature chart and it was obvioous what date I got pregnant. She was born on her due date and is now 28 years old. The only problem we have is,, she makes us crazy sometimes! Good luck!
I was pregnant on my first cycle using the lowest dose of Clomid. We didn't need any other assistance (no IUI or anything). Good luck!
I did two un-successful rounds of clomid and had horrible headaches and blurred vision with it. Only to find out the fertility issue wasn't with me, but my hubby.
We ended up having to do IVF as IUI wouldn't resolve the issue.
it worked the first time. DD is now 4 1/2.
I did 4 rounds of clomid to to success. Insurance wouldn't cover anything else so I quit trying with assistance. Then 2 years later, out of nowhere, we were pregnant on our own. Good luck!
We took 4 rounds of Clomid and did NOT get pregnant...we contemplated IVF but decided that was just too much - after all we had been trying for almost 4 years and NOTHING...
we talked, we cried, we decided that it wasn't in the cards for us - and gave up...got a dog and gave up...went back to having sex for fun and stopped stressing over having a baby...4 months later we were pregnant...
I took one cycle of clomid and have a 2 year old son! Good Luck!
I lost count. The 4th Dr. I went to was a reproductive endocrinologist. He said I had taken way too many rounds of it. Going to him was the best decision we made and I got pregnant 6 mths later with IUI. I had a horrible case of endometriosis that he removed. Then, I had to give myself shots to increase the number of eggs released and they gave me a shot to force me to ovulate on a certain day. We did IUI one time with our son. I was also given progesterone for the first 3 months. We did IUI one time with our twins too.
I used Clomid to get pregnant with my first child (I had a miscarriage before that and my cycles never went back to normal). It only took one cycle on the lowest dose. I had no issues with it at all. But, I didn't have any "inftertility" issues, per se. I just needed it to force ovulation because my body just never went back to normal on it's own. I think everyone is different, but just try your best to relax and let it happen. Stress will only make the situation more difficult (SO much easier said than done, I realize!).
I took 3 cycles of Clomid with my first before they were ready to do the IUI and the first IUI took so we were very lucky. The second time around we were at a new clinic and based on my previous experience with Clomid the Dr. Suggested a different drug, Leptoprin 0r Leptopril? It was a breast cancer drug. I responded much better and was ready for insemination after the first cycle of drugs where as the Clomid took 3 cycles before insemination. At any rate we had to do 3 IUI's for the second baby but at least I was ready every month instead of wasting months in between.
Make sure you go to a fertility clinic that specializes in this area. The should test your hubby to make sure his sperm count is normal and he is fine. They should also do an ink test (can't remember technical name) where they inject ink into your uterus to see if your fallopian tubes are clear and eggs are not getting stuck.
Hang in there, I know that it is stressful! For me it wasn't the stress of the procedures so much as getting my hopes up that it would work only to find that it didn't. Hugs to you!
3 cycles of Clomid, no luck. We thought we would probably need IVF. Then we had to give a break as we were going on vacation, and got pregnant !
GL!
I did one round of clomid with a fertility doctor and he said that it wouldn't work for me because instead of making the lining thicker it had the opposite effect on me and made it thinner, so no embryo would be able to implant. We did the hsg (sp?) where they push dye through your fallopian tubes and I was pregnant the next month. I also did acupuncture and herbs both times I was attempting and while I was pregnant with my 2 babies.
We tried getting pregnant for almost 2 years. Clomid once with no success. Then IUI once with no Clomid and got pregnant. The main factor is finding out why you are not getting pregnant. Is it his stuff (low sperm count or mobility) or yours (blocked tubes, etc) or simply stress of trying. Ours was my prior endometriosis and his lower sperm count so IUI worked well for us. We also started to live life 'as if'. Instead of planning trips around maybe we would be prego we just planned life as we normally would - even looking into adoption. Good news is our second pregnancy we used no extra interventions - just acupuncture - and got pregnant in 3 months. good luck
1!
Did two cycles of it, hated how it made me feel. Gave up on it. Switched to Metformin (used for PCOS women). Periods became regular, and boom, got preggo. Good luck, hon!
2 rounds of Clomid. Then one year off to just see if it all happened naturally, then successful IVF, twice. Good luck to you!!
3 rounds clomid with IUI and I had been doing accupuncture too
