HELP ! I am looking for a NATURAL Menopause medication

I am 49 and have been in Menopause for almost 4 years now. I can't take it any more !! I can't sleep more than 2 hours without waking up drenched in sweat. I have hot flash's ALL day. I need some idea's for a "Natural" medication. I have already tried "Prempro" and "Estroven" and I don't want to take the 'chemical' medications. PLEASE HELP !!

Try soy. My mother didn't want to take the chemical medications either. She started to take a soy pills that she found at her local drug store. I guess they worked well for her. I kept myself very busy and at a great distance from her during that time of her life :) We both survived :)

i don't know much about menopause but saw my mom go through it. one day i invited her to exercise with me. since then she had more better days than yucky days. she's 57 now and still exercises because it became part of her weekly routine. if it doesn't help with your struggle of menopause, for sure it will help strengthen your heart and mind!

good luck.

ok this is actually pretty easy to treat! first of all... take a breath! A LOT of women are going through this and I APPLAUD your desire to use only natural remedies. There is a book called "What your doctor doesn't tell you about Menopause" by Dr. Lee. GET THIS BOOK!

I am working on my masters in holistic nutrition and what I have read and what i have recommended to some of my clients is that an increase in calcium to about 2000 mg has shown some great response. Take it at night about 30 minutes before bed so it has time to absorb. Also, I have read that 800IU of Vitamin E will help you sleep and keep your tissues lubricated. Make sure that your vitamin E is D-alpha-tocopheral. Do NOT get Dl-alpha. That's fake! In addition, Evening Primrose oil, a couple of capsules a day, have shown great results too.

I can't recommend any herbs until I know your specific situation but at least you can start with this. If you want to email me back and give me more of your health details let me know.

Check into Ayurveda! There is a wonderful book on Ayurveda for women over forty and deals with menopause specifically. The problem is I lost my copy of the book and can't remember the author or title--ugh! I bought it on Amazon, so if you just use search words like Ayurveda for women it should come up. I believe that the title says something with the age forty in it. I also know that there is an Ayurvedic clinic in Costa Mesa that I was thinking of going to. Once again, you will have to google it. Have you tried Yoga? Check into Iyengar Yoga (books also!) since this form of Yoga deals with specific health issues. Yoga Works in Costa Mesa has Iyengar teachers. Make sure you eat as much whole, organic foods as possible and avoid processed as much as possible! I am turning forty this month, so this is an interesting topic for me! I hope to glide gracefully through menopause!! I wish you wellness and some sleep!!

Chaste Tree (1 - 3x/day) and it usually takes a few weeks to see a difference. You can get it at local health food stores, etc.

Calcium, this is the one I recommend is cheap and well balanced helps as well to relax the body, which balances it out. My doctor sells it at her office:

I can really relate. Have you heard of bioidentical meds? I used to take those when I went to the PMS (thyroid and menopause) Clinic in Arcadia. I now go to a local place that the Dr gives me hormone creams that are bioidentical. Look them up and see what you think. They seem to help a lot. Good luck. Cynthia

Hi Tanna -- I'm a 62 year old grandmother who managed to get thru the "pause" without HTR over a l0 years period.

This is what worked for me: Drink lots of water -- go easy on caffine foods/drinks and hot spicey foods. They
add to your heat.

Carry a fan in your purse, use a small fan under your desk at work, sleep nude under a fan at night with light cotton
breathable cover. Wear cotton and fabrics that breathe. Carry a small spritzer/mister to cool yourself off at outdoor events and water always onboard.

Health foods stores and many pharmacies have Black Cohosh
or Remefemin -- natural hormones from plants and other
natural aides -- Try Henrys, Sprouts, Mothers, Wild Oats,
Whole Foods.

Good Luck and God Bless, DD

Chinese doctors can be very helpful - we see a woman in China town called serena at Hip Woo Hong - I don't have the phone number right now but if you can't get it at 411 let me know and I'll track it down.
Chinese medicine is truly brilliant it treats your whole system and targets the actual problem not just the symptoms.
Best of luck

I take bio Identical hormones They have helped me tremendously. I guess they are made with yams. You could ask your Dr but since they are not from pharmacutical companies the tend to not use them. Check your local compounding Pharmacy and ask what Drs they are using. Look at Suzanne Summeers book. Other than that Black cohosh kind of worked for me
