I am just wondering if any one has used Nasonex for they kids? My 17 mo old was prescribed Nasonex today for his runny nose. I'm concerned about using steroids in someone so small, was wondering if you have anything good or bad to say about it! He's also taking Amoxicillin for a mild nasal infection....
I have an 8 year old that has been on it for over a year now. It helps him tremendously. I was like you though, I was pretty skeptical about putting kids on steroids, but I will tell you it works. We were going in with ear infections everytime the seasons changed. They told me it was allergies and put him on zyrtec, which I had trouble getting the insurance to cover it. They then went ahead and tried claritin and it worked for about 6 months and then it quit working. When I went back in the doctor she told me that she uses it everyday and was going to prescribe it for him. Since then we haven't been back to the doctor. There have been no side effects or anything, and he doesn't even mind squirting in his nostrils. I know your situation is a little different because you have a 17 month old and mine is 8, but it does work!
My daughter is on Flonase (which is the same). She has not had as bad of allergies as she had before and she only has to take the claratin or benadryl every now and then.
I am putting in a blurb for natural childcare. So many medications and vaccinations that we use these days. Don't you think that God made our bodies to work as they are supposed to? I think that there are things you can do to help without medicating for life. I don't want to start a controversial conversation, but would be glad to message with you.
They wouldn't prescribe him something that was not safe. If he was going to have to take it everyday for a year or more I would be concerned. My son was on breathing treatments for a couple months because he had RSV and he is prefectly healthy now. It is just to strengthen the vessels around his nasal cavity so they can fight the infection better. It is only temporary and the concentration is so mild that there will be in long term effects.
My two year old has used it without any problems.
Both of my boys have used Nasonex and well they hated it but it had the intended results, cutting the snot and chilling out the histimine reaction. Saline spray would have 2 of the same results, the kids would hate it, and it would kill the snot but it's more likely to bring on sneezing fits.
It's not a steroid in the negative, roid rage~I'm a professional athelete but I have no reproductive organs anymore and I'm gonna bump off my family before I kill myself, possibilities. It stimulates the tissues to do a better job. The same can be said of hydrocortisone creams for itches.
Some times our bodies just need a little kick start to heal instead of just dealing with it.
My son was 10mo and had chronic allergies/runny nose. We used Nasonex and it really helped. I would recommend it. It's alot easier than trying to get him to take liquid medicine!
i use this for my son who is 15but i have not used it for small children, it works real well for my son. i have not seen any side effects.
My oldest son used nasonex when he was 3 and it helped quite a bit. Allergies are so bad this year with all the rain here in OK I hope it works.
I most definitely wouldnt . My little one was prescribed that and I found an alternative natural way and so much cheaper. and better for kids!
