My son has a book report project due tomorrow and yes we waited until the last minute to finish it. He used the air dry clay to make his presentation and then we realized the directions said it takes 2-3 days to dry....Is there any way to speed it up? I thought about using the hair dryer or setting it outside all night but I'm afraid either of those will ruin it and he worked really hard on it.
TIA for any suggestions
I would try using the hair dryer on cool setting. The clay dries because of evaporation. The air movement should hasten the evaporation.
I believe you can put it on a safe cookie sheet on about 125 - 150 degrees, but you need to check it every 20 or so minutes and realize it will continue to dry after you take it out of the oven… It’s kind of a situation where you need to let it bake a bit, check it, bake it a bit more, etc… Depending on how thick the work is, it may take longer. Just be sure it doesn’t start to crack on you… if it does, wet your fingers and smooth the clay til it’s re-sealed. I hope this helps! I hate these projects that you learn of extra steps or directions you didn’t realize til too late!!! Let me know how it goes!
