So I have had a bruised feeling in one of my breasts. It is sooo tender to the touch. I wake up at night because it hurts (sleeping on my stomach....on a tempurpedic type bed). I've felt for lumps, etc. It's been 3 days...I think.
I've had a hysterectomy, so not pregnant. I thought my hormones cycled last week, pimples on my face, achy, and all out bitchy (yes, I guess PMS is still there). It is only one breast. It feels like I got kicked by a toddler.
Obviously, I will see a doctor if it persists. I'm almost 38 and my grandmother had breast cancer after menopause. Should I be extremely worried and make an apt. asap? I'm not one to rush to the doctor, but will if this is a symptom of breast cancer or other.
If you have a history of breast cancer of course you should see a doctor. I had the same thing and it turned out to be too much coffee. Yes excessive caffeine can give you painful lumps in your breasts. I have no history of breast cancer and even I saw a doctor when it first happened, ya know?
I had a similar thing a while ago. It turned out to be chronic mastitis and a round of antibiotics took care of it. You should see a doctor and make sure it's not something more serious. I was surprised that it was mastitis since it had been over 5 years that I've been breastfeeding.
I have fibrocystic breasts and my breasts will get so tender that I can't stand for anywhere on my chest to be touched. They will also wake me up in the middle of the night because they are so tender. (I have approximately 100+ lumps in each breast and they will swell to the point where you can see them through the skin)
Try laying off the caffeine (chocolate has caffeine in it too) and maybe try an ibuprofen to help with the tenderness.
I also have breast cancer in my family. However from what I have been told cancer would not be causing the discomfort.
It never hurts to get it checked out but I am thinking it is more of a hormonal thing. Good luck!!
I have cysts on my breast. When ever I have too much caffaine they get really tender and hurt. You may want to try cutting back on caffaine. Good luck!!
Could be swollen lymph gland. Try putting heat on it to increase circulation and move things out of there.
I had a painful, lumpy bruised feeling near my armpit a few yrs ago. Had a mammogram, & an ultrasound on it to make sure. Inflamed lymph gland. It comes and goes.
But the good news that the doc told me is that the painful lumps in or near the breasts are usually the kind that don't become cancerous. That made me feel better. NOT that you should ignore them, she said, but that's why mammograms are recommended yearly---because the lumps that cause problems usually do NOT cause pain.
I am thinking it is hormonal and it’s only been a year since I’ve last breastfed. I know that I’ve leaked recently from that same breast. Hmmmm.
I’ve also been told that although my grandmother was a survivor of breast cancer, it’s not necessarily hereditary because she got it after menopause. But then again, how much do they really know?
Thinking I’ll make an appt. and cancel if I feel better by the time it rolls around.
Added: I’ve actually stopped drinking pop for the past 4 days and have had minimal tea. I’ve had the detox headache here and there. Any connection???
