Best markers/paints for personalizing plastic clipboards?

Have you ever personalized something plastic? My younger boys have these great plastic clipboards (the kind that you can open up and put things in) that are personalized. I want to get some for my neices for Christmas (along with a bunch of art supplies). The friend who gave them to us doesn't remember where she got them. I looked on-line and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for (wrong colors, lousy designs etc.) so I figured it might be easy to just make them.

Has anyone used particular paints or paint markers for decorating on plastic? What would you recommend? I don't mind painting so paints vs markers isn't really a big deal, I just want something that's going to adhere well and will be durable.

It's probably something that I could find easily on pinterest but my work network blocks that and a lot of other sites that look like they have the info I need.

Thanks for any recommendations!

In my experience, if you don’t seal the plastic the oil from fingers will eventually break down the marker/paint even if you are using permanent products. You can use regular old sharpies. Decocolor paint markers. Krink paint markers. Copic markers are probably your best bet if you don’t want to seal the plastic.

I’ve made those using decocolor paint pens. They’ve lasted a long while with our experience
