Avalon midwives?

Hi, I'm pregnant and live in Summit and plan to deliver with midwives, just like I did at Northwestern's Prentice hospital in Chicago with my last baby. I'm new to the area and don't know much about midwife practices that deliver in hospitals with attending OB support when necessary, but Avalon Midwives in Morristown looks good. Any other suggestions? Or, reviews of Avalon or Morristown hospital? Many thanks for your advice!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

As a doula, I have worked with several of the midwife groups in the area, though unfortunately not the Avalon midwives. While the Hackettstown Midwives are a bit far from you, I must say that several of my clients have had amazing experiences there. My cleints have been able to eat and drink in labor, have intermittent fetal heart monitoring, and each room has its own birthing tub. Here is a link that lists all of the NJ hospital rate of c-section, episionomy, etc. http://www.icanofnj.com/hospitalcsectionrates.htm
I hope this helps!

Warm Regards,
Carolyn

Morristown is a great hospital! I'll be delivering there!

I am not using a midwife, but I have heard that Avalon is the favorite around here. I would definitely consider them myself, except I want a single-practitioner and Avalon has several midwives who might deliver you. I've heard they're all great, but I still want one person to see me through.
