Anyone recommend NAET for 3 year old?

My daughter was recently diagnosed with 4 different allergies (so far). Egg, dog, and 2 molds. Thanks to all the great responses I have received from here we are working on the egg allergy. The dog (a very large constantly shedding one) is outside all the time…that has made a huge difference. I also try not to let her rub on the dog or let the dog lick her face–doesn’t always work. FOr the molds we keep the air filter clean, dust and vaccuum often (especially her room). She uses Nasonex each night and she was supposed to use an antihistamine each night also but I think it made her a little crazy. Anyway, I hate having her on the Nasonex although it has helped tremendously. She used to wake up congested and with a stuffy nose every morning. At night she would sneeze and cough. Her eyes had really puffy dark circles. Since the Nasonex she only sneezes every once in a while and her eyes are not nearly as dark. Any recommendations on what else I can do to help her allergies?I have heard NAET works really well. Can anyone tell me a little more about it and share your experiences with it?

It would not hurt and it did help our son when he was younger. So yes, do it.

ENT SOL is a great way to keep her nasal cavities flush and clean in addition to the Nasonex. I’m a big fan. Also we’ve switched from Nasonex to Verimist (sp) it seems to be a little less overwhelming in the aftertaste for my 6 year old.

Good luck!

I have been through the treatments here in Arlington by Dr Joan Gregory on Randall Mill. It is amazing, I was headed for allergy shots, but I just couldn’t do it. I was told once I started I would need to keep them up very expensive and time consuming. She treated me for eggs, dairy, wheat and a few more things. She elimated my migraine hedaaches as well. I was treated 3 years ago and still have no allergies. It is painless and a great alternative to other options. Good luck

I’ve heard great things about Joan Gregory as well.

NAET can be extremely effective for some people - I had about a 75% rate of effectiveness for my treatments (eggs was the primary one that could not be cleared). Iva Lim-Peck in Plano has experience treating kids. One thing for you to be very aware of is that the testing you’ve already had done was likely for IgE (immediate) allergic reactions. Many people will also have delayed allergic reactions. So, what any of the good NAET practitioners will do is to test your daughter’s reaction to alot of other common allergens. So, don’t be surprised if that is a very long list and that you are told you need 15 + treatments to resolve the issues. This also seems to be particularly true for folks with the mold allergies. And, some things in my experience cannot be resolved with NAET (I’ve had about 25 treatments) in particular an IgG reaction to gluten/wheat, which can be more of an autoimmune reaction than an allergic reaction (e.g., celiac disease). So, in addition to the NAET you might want to check out whether she isn’t having this reaction first. I spent $1,800 taking my oldest son to a top allergy doctor who knew nothing at all about these delayed food reactions. He said my son would have an overt reaction if he had problems with dairy or wheat. However, when we did this test:
www.enterolab.com his antibodies were sky high to both wheat and dairy. My younger son was also positive and he had many other food allergies that all resolved by following a GF/CF diet.

And, just as a practical suggestion, carpet is one of the absolute worst things to have in your home (bedrooms in particular) if you have allergies. So, you might consider removing the carpet in her bedroom and putting in an eco friendly hardwood floor. I now have tile throughout my home and I’m amazed at what collects in just a short time with kids, pets, etc. Also, you may need multiple HEPA air filters to give your home effective coverage (a small one in her room would be a great idea and provides white noise). And, finally, you might want to consider doing a mold test of your home or having an inspector come out to make sure you don’t have any hidden water leaks - you can have small leaks that take years before they make their way through the drywall, but mold loves the environment in the walls of homes. And, adding a UV lite to your A/C unit can help kill any spores that might be produced up there (another haven for mold is your A/C ducts). The reason this is so important is that many people that have mold allergies have also been impacted by the toxins produced by the mold spores. These toxins damage the immune system and thus can result in these allergic reactions to the environment - it’s a complex model, but basically the body isn’t able to remove the toxins and the immune system ends up remaining in a “hyper” state and thus you get all these food and environmental reactions.

i only have a minute, i was just looking this over before i really need to start getting ready to leave the house, but i just wanted to reply quickly that we’ve done naet for both of my kids, and we are SO happy w/ the results. my 5 year old daughter started to have major eczema when she turned 1, and we started treating her at 4, after finding an amazing holistic dr in plano named dr kantipong. (she is retiring soon) not all naet treatments are created equal. different people treat differently. my little girl has completely clear skin after about 25 treatments. when my son was born, he began to breat out HORRIBLY at 4 weeks old. i’m talking not only rashy eczema, but oozy skin at all joints. very sad and gross. and we began treating him this year, at about 16 mos or so. he has cleared up tremendously, after having about 13 treatments, we have a few more to go, but my kids have their lives back. their diet was VERY limited so that their skin could be as clear as possible and now they eat EVERYTHING. i’ve referred friends to this dr and they’ve also had great success w/ her. she’s retiring in sept. i highly recommend her, and i wouldn’t trust anyone else to treat my kids to actually CLEAR the allergy.
hope this helps. feel free to call me w/ any questions you may have…469-951-1850 stacy

You really should get rid of the dog first & foremost. If it will improve your child’s health then isn’t it worth it?

I’ve had amazing results with NAET for both myself and my children. I go to Dr. Steve Homoky at Coit & Spring Creek (972-612-4900). He used Dr. Peck when his 4 yr old was facing 2/day allergy shots, and was able to get rid of the epi-pen for his wheat & dairy allergis. I personally had been lactose intolerant for 14 years before going through NAET treatments. He’s using a variation of NAET these days, which only requires a 2 hour avoidance period rather than the 24 hour avoidance period, and uses a computerized model to test for the sensitivities instead of glass vials. It’s called Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (http://www.acmhealthsolutions.com/Services/AllergyTreatments/AdvancedAllergyTherapeuticsAAT/tabid/79/Default.aspx) No needles are used on kids, either, and he really specializes in helping kids with allergies. I don’t know about how many treatments it would take, but I would plan on 15-20 for budgeting purposes. He’ll take your daughter through a series of tests to see which foods she is sensitive to, and then once those have been cleared, will begin to work on seasonal allergies. Often, once the food stuff is fixed, many of my allergies went away or diminished greatly. Feel free to call me if you have any questions!

Try www.chirocareoffrisco.com first! Dr. George Hoogeveen (Dr. George) and his staff are some of the few care givers who specialize in an up updated version called AAT. It’s automated so there is very little “human error” and allergies can be cleared in fewer treatment. My daughter and I are both success stories. Tell him that The Huckins sent you…you’ll love him.

Good Luck

P.S. they are also crazy about kids:-)

I used to work for an Allergist. So many things you can do come to mind. Wash hair before you go to bed. All the stuff you get in you hair during the day get on the pillow and get int he face durring the night. Get rid off all stuffed animals and pot plants. Slowly intoduce them back in. If the problem flares up, back off again. Some people say the cheap air filters that you throw away are better. The ones you wash can grow mold if they are not allowed to dry. Get your airvents in the house cleaened. We did this once and never had to do it again. Good Luck! You want the kids to have as normal a life as they can. A little dog time is good.

I use a nasal rinse bottle by NeilMed Company. My sister and her family use a Netipot. Both rinse away the allergens out of the nasal passages, so I guess it’s treating the symptoms, not the cause. My symptoms are also helped greatly when I shower before going to bed. Especially on a windy day.

I have had friends whose allergies have been helped by chiro treatments.

I hope you post a response - I don’t even know what NAET is! Maybe it would help me get off the many allergy meds I’m on!

Not sure what NAET is but want to add an FYI. If your ever considering a new dog. I have allergies and found out about a supposedly hypoallergenic dog. I bought a SNOODLE (part poodle, part snowzer(spelling ?) 7 years ago. Great dog and no allergies. He doesn’t shed. Has to be cut at the groomer. I think they said dogs have fur, this one has hair.

I know that everyone is different and what wokrs for some may not work for others. Having said that, we have had phenomenal success with NAET. We started for my sons eczema, he had been wearing long sleeve shirts for 2 years, even in July in Texas! When we started his treatments the crooks of his elbows itched and bled. He had red itchy whelps from his wrists, up his arms, across his shoulders and creeping up his neck, behind his knees and starting on his eyelids. His main allergy ended up being dairy and his eczema had cleared completely within 2 months(treatments 2X a week) Its been 1 1/2 years and he has no eczema. The rest of the family has since been treated with milder but still amazing results.

We had severe allergy with our two youngest and here are a couple suggestions from their allergy doctor. We washed all of our kids stuffed animals and then kept the in the closet when they weren’t being hugged on. We also put the mattress in a zippered protective cover, this helped a lot. The doctor told us to use only cotton curtains so they could be washed. At two we started our youngest on allergy shots and did so for three plus years. That was the best decision we ever made, he went from being on antibiotics from 9 months until almost 3, and hasn’t had bronchitis since(he’s 18). So if she still had major problems you may consider that route. By the way, ours was allergic to all grasses, dust, trees, and mold, so I feel for you. He also developed asthma from his constant infections. Good luck!

try giving your dog a weekly bath to rid the dander. the dander is what your child is allergic too. i had an allergist tell me this once. the animals are outside in the “allergy” stuff and bring it in on their coats.

good luck.
