Any problems using Dove body wash on babies?

I heard Dove is one of the best body washes for babies with eczema -- even better and gentler than baby body washes out there -- but my baby splashes around in the bath alot and I'm worried about the soapy water getting in his eyes. Anybody have any experience with using Dove on babies? Was the soapy water in eyes a problem at all??

I wouldnt but I would ask my doctor. I thought johnsons baby wash was more gentle than dove.

I use dove on both of my kids...per dr recommendation (dye and perfume free). I don't use the soap on their face, I've never noticed them having a problem with the soapy water...and my son LOVES to splash around! There is such a little concentration of the soap in the water that I don't think it really makes a difference.

I, too, would ask the pediatrician or even a dermatologist depending on how severe the eczema is.

Our daughter was diagnosed with eczema around 12 months of age - we were told nothing about changing soaps (we've always used baby washes), but we were encouraged to use a certain lotion (Vanicream, available OTC) by the dermatologist who saw her, and it's done a good job of controlling it to this point in time.

Not a problem it works well and helps relieve dryness and itching. Some question asking the DR it was recomended by mine it is gentle enough for babies the so called baby washes weren't moistrizing enough leaving dry skin, also you can use Eucerin lotion something more creamy and heavy that will gradually soak into skin there is a generic of Eucerin at Walmart for less than $4.00 it is a tub and works just as well as Eucerin also recommended by our ped.Washing babies clothes I use to do an extra rinse cycle to get all the soap out and use ALL or Dreft for a while

My doctor also recommended Dove body wash for my baby with exzema. We haven't had a problem with it getting into his eyes, but I don't put it directly into the water (just the "run off" gets in, which is such a small amount that it doesn't seem to be a problem). Just as a side note, we also saw a dermatologist who suggested using the Dove unscented bar soap instead of the body wash because that's even more gentle (it has fewer preservatives in it). And she said not to wash his whole body - just the parts that get sweaty (diaper area, under arms, in creases, etc.)

Denise reported she feels Johnson's Baby wash is more gentle but do you really know what's in the products we're using on ourselves and our children?
Read this and educate yourself. You'll be amazed what's lurking.

I would use Dove before I would ever use Johson's baby wash - it actually has a topical anesthetic in it so it doesn't hurt the eyes - it is not gentler!!

My dermatologist reccomends Dove only for washing for me - and that is all I use for my kids as well.

When I talked to my doctor about dry skin on my baby, she recommended California Baby Massage Oil to be used in or after the bath. It is organic, chemical- and fragrance-free, and it really helps. We only use organic products on our son, so I couldn't tell you about Dove, but you might check out CB oil.

I use dove bar soap on my 3 month old and it works great. She was having dry skin with the Johnson's babywash and so the Pediatrician recommended we switch to dove. I've gotten it in her eyes a time or two and she didn't cry so it must not have hurt her.

You could also try Cetaphil.
Which is also recommended as well.
