My 4 yr old daughter has allergies, so we've been told. I never had any allergy problems in my life so I am clueless. Her dad had asthsma and allergy to grass (both as a child and "grew" out of them I guess). She was first diagnosed with allergies around Oct. last yr, peditrician said it was because she has a blue color in her nose which is allergies, so we had her on loratadine until Feb. From Oct-Feb she had this on and off coughing that we could "deal" with and she could sleep and stuff. In Feb, after getting worse, she was put on singular (partly for allergies and partly for maybe a mild case of asthsma because when after she stops running she coughs) and they put her on nasacort spray for her snoring as nights. Also took a blood draw to find out what she is allergic too, came back nothing not pollen in area or trees or dust no pets...nothing. So the new mds they put her one worked. In meantime we were referred to a pediatric allergist and finally saw him in June. He said its not food allergies because it would've shown up in a rash first and probably sooner than her being 3 yrs old. He didnt do any testing, and he says its seasonal and to take her off the singular and nasacort and see how she does for rest of the summer. So far so good....no meds right now and fine doing anything and everything. He said come fall, we will probably need to put her back on the meds. I am fine with that. What frustrates me is not knowing what she is allergic to...if they tested her for seasonal stuff and outside stuff why did it all come back negative? Any insight or advice would help. Thanks ladies!
My son was going thru the same stuff though they never did any testing. We were also told the same thing about the bluish color inside his nose as an indicator of allergies. He’s on nasacort and loratadine. We just moved from Gainesville and his “allergies” are much better. My husband has allergies has well and he is better too. We found there is just a ton of dust and even mold up there. Now that we’ve moved from our apartment (that was fairly old) everyone seems to be breathing easier at night. Sorry I can’t offer more than that but maybe look at what might be in the house even though she didn’t come back as allergic to anything, per se but you might try things like an air purifier in the rooms and cleaning/dusting when she isn’t there and then trying to keep the dust at bay.
