aflac

I did do the search and couldn't find anything newer than 2011 so is Aflac worth it? it would be about 40 bucks a month but we seem to end up with extra dr bills a year and my husband is wanting to get it so of course I thought I would check with you mommas/ and select few daddies.

specifically which type of policy are you considering?

We used to have Aflac, but my DH’s employer switched to Colonial. It was much cheaper.

We have an accidental injury/health policy + supplemental income. With this comes, a bonus for annual well visits for the employee + spouse… which does not amount to much.

Unfortunately, the supplemental income = our monthly full medical insurance expenses…which the employer does not pay when the employee is off work. So we get the check & turn it over to HR to cover our insurance. Totally sucks, but that’s all that’s available to us at this time. Which means we have to rely upon my income alone when my DH is injured or seriously ill & off work. Since he is a diabetic/heart patient, having this insurance helps us. For most others, I would not recommend it.

My thoughts are that if you don’t have enough money in a savings account to cover expenses if either you or your husband were unable to work, then it makes sense to have a back up. Of course you could save that $40 a month and hope nothing happens in the meantime, but not everybody is good at saving money.

Also, does your company provide a short term and/or long term disability coverage? That would be another option/backup if something were to happen.
