I have a daughter named Sophia & we love it. If you love it, use it! I also teach at a pretty big school, and there are only 3 Sophia's on the whole campus! It may not be as over-used as you think it is. Plus it's classic--to make it more Italian, you could spell it Sofia.

I was named after my cousin in Italy. My name is Marisa (pronounces Ma-ree-sa) just like Marisa Tomei, the actress. It has become more common than when I was little.
