check out thegrocerygame.com. Very cool and you actually CAN save tons if you can be flexible with your meals--they have you stockpile certain sale items etc. I'm a picky eater and won't eat mushrooms etc, even if I can get them for free, so I save a lot but not tons:) good luck!
I do the grocery game, as already mentioned. I buy 2 newspapers weekly. You use the coupons when something goes on sale. That's where you can stockpile and save big and pay nothing at all for some stuff or really cheap. You can check out my blog on a particular post giving examples at www.herringadventures.blogspot.com.
I shop mostly at Ingles since it is close to me, but I also shop at Kroger (both do double coupons). Occasionally you'll get one of these stores (as mentioned in my blog) where they will do triple coupons. I did that one week and the checkout price came to $198, but I only paid $105 because of all of the coupons. It's awesome!
I shop at both kroger & publix, but mainly kroger. I have the kroger rewards mastercard where you get 10 cents off gas or for every $100 you spend you get 15 cents off a gallon at kroger gas stations. Plus we use that car for all our expenses and after so much spent you get checks mailed. They usually wait until you accrue like 8000 points but then they send you $80 in checks to use towards groceries, giftcards, whatever in the store you want. As for coupons, I get the AJC paper and clip what I need. I know there are people on ebay who have auctions selling coupons of whatever you need as well. I buy kroger brand products to save money and when I shop at publix I buy the sale items and in the sunday paper they have a one cent item every week on sundays & mondays with their ad coupon. Publix does buy one get one free items but they ring up half off so you only need to buy one if you want. Both kroger and publix doubles coupons up to 50 cents, not sure how they handle competitor coupons, never tried. I get coupons in the mail from kroger by also having the mastercard and I think the coupons are based on what you buy tracked by your id card on every transaction. I haven't really dabbled into online coupons but I will definitely be checking out everyone's suggestions for websites.
Coupons are everywhere. Look for them in mail flyers, magazines, newspapers, and online. A couple websites I've found have coupons that you can print. They are:
www.coolsavings.com and coupons.com. There is also a website, www.moneysavingmom.com, which is helpful in finding deals. She also explains how to get good deals at Walgreen's and CVS (using their extra care bucks). Target and Publix also accept manufacturer's coupons along with their store coupons for an item. You can double up that way or at least get extra savings. I try to shop the flyers and buy things when they are on sale and add a coupon to it. Publix has great buy one get one offers each week. Their flyer is in Thursday's newspaper and runs through the following Wednesday. You can use two coupons for the buy one get one items. For instance, if cheerios are buy one get one and you have two manufacturer's coupons for cheerios they can both be used. With little ones it is very tough to run all over town for deals so I try to stick to the places I know I need to go. I always hit Publix and if another store has a deal that is worth it to me then I make a trip there during the week. Good luck!
Heather,
I read your message and immediately feel contected because I have a 2 year old son and am expecting twin girls in February. It sounds like you are surviving, so you give me hope! If you have any advice on handling a toddler while being pregnant with twins, I would love to hear it!
I try to use coupons as much as possible, but it is hard. I have found a couple of sites, but not many. You might want to check out coupons.com, coolsavings.com and mysavings.com. Hope this helps!
Lots of good advice here, but another thing to think about is Wal-mart. Wal-Mart price matches all other sale papers for the week. If you bring your sale papers with you to Wal-Mart and show the cashier, they have to match the price. The name brands do have to match which usually makes meat impossible that way, but it helps. That way, you can buy everything at one store but get all of the sale prices at all of the stores. Combine that with your coupons and you should be good to go. Good luck!
I manage to save a lot using coupons. Most purchases I made online using these coupons. The benefits are enormous. You manage to save time and money. You can buy from your favorite store and pick the best coupons. You never have problems with coupons always work and are not expired. This is one of my favorite websites that provide online coupons http://promocodes2011.com/.
Hope this helps.
