Which Bottles Are Best???

I am 33 weeks pregnant with a baby girl and I am trying to figure out what kind of bottles to get. Everyone that I know has thrown in their two cents about my plans not to breastfeed long. In a few more weeks I will be a wife, a mom, a full time student and a part time preschool teacher so please forgive me if I don't expect the breastfeeding to continue much after delivery. I am fully aware of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding but I'm not sure if I will be able to incorporate it into my hectic life...Which is why I really want to...

Getting Started with Cloth Diapering

I am 6 months pregnant with my 4th child and would like to give cloth diapering a try........but.........I have no idea where to start! Where do you buy the diapers, how is it different from disposable diaper care, cleaning, costs, ect. Also, what do you see as the benefits for the child? Is it easier to potty train, less skin irritation? Obviously, it is better on the environment......I do believe firmly in that.

How to Get Rid of GAS in an Infant

Does anyone have an ideas how to get rid of GAS? My daughter is only 1 month old, and has gas so bad, that she cries after she eats. I've tried rubbing her stomach, mylicon drops, warm compresses on her stomach, warm baths and laying her on my stomach. I don't lay her down after she eats for 30 mins, then I lay her down, but she cries from the gas. She is bottle feed with breast milk and formula. I have tried to just breast feed, but she wont latch on.. I'm open to any suggestion to get rid of the gas. Thank you for all your help, it's...

Natural Remedies for Red, Itchy Rash

My 21 month old boy has this large red rash on his bum/lower back. It started out small and didn't bother him and it was getting better but just this morning I got him out of bed and it is much worse and he is itching it now. The red areas are slightly raised and some areas are peeling. We are letting him run around with out his diaper as much as possible and we use Seventh Generation diapers so I know it isn't a sensitivity to his diaper. So, far we have just been using Earth's Best diaper rash onitment. I am wondering if any one has...

Acne/Rash From Soy Formula?

I've had to supplement with formula as I'm not producing enough at the moment. I gave my daughter a soy formula (earth's best brand) one night. My husband used a lactose-free (similac) the following day. A few days later I noticed a small breakout of baby acne - almost rashlike on her upper chest and some on the crook of one elbow. I'm not sure if it's related to the formula, or maybe something she came into contact with. Has anybody ever seen this before?

Sunscreen for Very Sensitive Skin

My three year old son has very fair and sensitive skin. He has eczema outbreaks from time to time, but for the most part we are able to keep it under control. In the last few weeks since the weather has gotten very warm here, I put sunscreen on him when we go out to play. But, I have not been able to find one yet that does not irritate his skin. The last couple I've tried have really made his skin break out terribly. Are there any sunscreens for very sensitive skin you would recommend? I am hoping someone will know of one we have not...

Gerber Baby Food Plastic Containers

With all the news coverage about concerns over plastics I've started checking the recycling codes on all the stuff our son uses. I noticed over the weekend that Gerber Baby food comes in plastic with a recycle code of 7 - which has been reported to contain BPA. I've emailed the company and for the time being have switched to brands (Earth's Best) that come in glass containers - but really miss the variety that Gerber offered. Any advice on making baby food at home or resources that explain how to make baby food? I'm pretty short on time...
