Hi ladies,
I want to know if anyone has used any low cost medication for under eye dark circles, & bags. I have had this problem for years,(off & on they lighten up, but lately they have been dark). I am a anemic which I take iron pills...I know a lot of it is do to sleep & stress, with my diet, which I am working on...especially being a diabetic.... I have tried Olay definity illuminating eye serum, but haven't seen any results. If any ideas would greatly be appreciated.
Hi Lisa,
I have the same problem and have to use a yellow-based concealer. I use Mary Kay but I am sure there are other brands out there. Yellow covers up the reddish-purple color.
I have tried other gels, serums, etc and do not get much of a benefit from them.
Good luck! I know how much of a pain they can be!

Lisa,
I'm very interested in what responses you get, because I've got the dark circles too. Right now, all I'm using is a concelor I bought from Sephora. Expensive, but it lasts forever. It too has a little yellow tint in it.
I'll be watching. I hope you get some good advice and not many people selling. Dontchya hate that?
Good luck,
Jenny
I sell Avon and they have great products for these things. contact me at wwwyouravon.com/tammyfrance or [email protected]. I give dicounts.
I am diabetic as well and when my sugar gets too high I get those dark circles.I have to watch my diet like a prison guard watches prisoners. Drink plenty of water plain clear water, less caffeine beverages and watch your sugar intake. Don't eat or drink anything that says Diet.It still has some form of sweetner in it . I use stevia balance which is a herb to sweeten any thing I want sweet. It is all natural and no side effects like sugar twin, sweet and Low or any of the other so called artificial sweetners.
Ice wrapped in a wash cloth should help decrease puffyness and a good concealer helps with the dark circles but your diet is the most important thing to change to rid yourself of them. I would also watch your salt intake as it will make you retain water.Good Luck
Im not sure if this is a connection but maybe you have breathing issues and or allergies. Maybe a nasal spray at night of saline might help. My son who has asthma gets (5yrs old)dark areas under his eyes.
Lisa,
I used to work as a makeup artist years ago, and the ladies who recomend a conceler with a yellow tint are right. If it does not seem to go with your skin tone, you can put it on first, and then lighly dab your foundation or another foundation that does match your skin tone around it and blend, being careful not to put on too much and not to wipe away the yellow tinted one. You can try hydrating the area, and keep using products that are meant for the eye area because they don't puff up the skin as much as moistureizers for the rest of your face. Sorry I don't know of an eye cream that really takes away the darkness. I saw many women with this problem when I worked, and nothing really took them away, but you can always try.

I don't sell Avon but use it sometimes and find their Lighten Up Plus for undereye circles works better than any $20 or $30 cream I've tried. It's not perfect, of course, but I think it helps and is worth a try. They always have sales so I bet you could find a deal. Check with the other gal who sells it!
I agree with rest of the posts - due to the heath-relatedness, you'll need to work on that separately & use a cover up until you can get it looking better. I do sell Mary Kay, so if you'd like the yellow concealer, I can get it to you. It works great! It's $10 plus tax. We have some other products that would work, as well, and I'd be happy to show those to you if you're interested. But the concealer is the quickest, cheapest "band-aid".
Have a great day!
My daughter (6) and I both get dark circles and otherwise are in great health. Adrenal fatigue (stress) is a big cause and for my daughter I believe a little big of environmental allergies. B-vitamins seem to help a lot. Rest, water, breathing are other very important factors.
Check out B-vitamins...there are many sources. I used mega-doses of Pantathelic Acid (Natures Sunshine) and Brewer's Yeast is another form. There are B complex vitamins.
Since you have diabetes, I'd be sure to consult with your doctor and often chiropractors have good knowledge of supplements and can test for your need.
Several have already mentioned Mary Kay cosmetics, but not the Eye Mask. It's a green gel that is very soothing and actually reduces the swelling under the eyes which helps with the dark circles as well. I had a car wreck several years ago with a head injury which caused my eyes to have perpetual dark circles. I use the Eye Mask and it actually helps reduce the condition, not just cover it up.
Hope this helps!!!
Avon has a really good lotions and also cooling eye patches to use to help under the eyes. They have helped me.
I would love to see the posts as well! I am on my 4th pregnancy and have insomnia for the 1st time and I have dark circles like no other!!!!
Please share the advice! :)
My ear, nose & throat specialist says that the circles are caused from inflamed sinuses. I have chronic sinus trouble and really bad dark circles. I use a good concealer all the time, otherwise, I am asked if I'm tired or sick. I am not going under the knife to roto-rooter my sinuses, which was the recommendation, so the concealer is my cover-up for now.
Using a Nepi-pot does help. Its saline water in a mini-pitcher that you pour through the sinuses canals. If you are always clogged too, you could try it.
Vitamin K is effective for dark circles, so try to find an eye cream with that ingredient. Mary Kay had a Soothing Eye Gel with cucumber in it that was good for puffiness, but I don't know if they still make it. Check with a consultant, or try Ebay, as you can find discontinued products there. Good old-fashioned tea bags over your eyes really works. Try green tea, which is high in antioxidants. Elevating your head a little when you sleep might also help. Good luck!
Lisa, I can't belive noone has said hemeroid cream yet. I have been using it for years anytime I start to get puffy. It is really cheap you can use generic and it takes less than a drop. Becareful not to get it in your eyes, but that is what it was made for was to releave puffyness and swelling and to shrink blood vessles. All the dark circles are is puffy swollen pockets of blood. it works wonders.
I have very bad bags and dark circles under my eyes. My doctor said that it is caused from my severe sinus problems. When my sinuses are very bad people are constantly telling me that my eyes are swollen and I look bad. I can honestly say that I have tried about every brand of eye cream available. I tried the drugstore brands and Avon and Mary Kay and then moved on to the more expensive eye creams at Sephora. I really don't think any of them work at all. I am currently using Clinique's All About Eyes and then using a concealer and that seems to work a little bit.
Dear Lisa,
I worked in the Cosmetics industry for years and years as a make-up artist and skin care consultant, so I hope some of my suggestions will help you.
You will want to look for and eye cream or gel that says "firming," since those products tend to help the skin remain taut and strong. It can help a lot to keep your eye cream in the refrigerator, too. A nice, cool cream can go a long way in helping to reduce puffiness and discomfort. Be sure you do not apply the product directly on the eyelids unless it specifically says that's where you should apply it. All creams and gels can melt and run a little bit, and if you put an eye cream right next to the lash line, there's a possibility it can seep and get into your eyes. Since eye creams are opthamologist tested for safety, that isn't a health problem, but it can cause more puffiness. The Olay products you are using are probably about as effective as anything will be for what you are looking for.
Where dark circles are concerned, creams ans gels can only do so much. The darkness you are seeing is veins and inflammation below the surface of the skin, so cosmetic products can't have a huge effect on it. The skin around the eyes is extremely thin and fragile, so the circles show through easily. Again, cold compresses can help to diminish it, but concealer will be your best friend in disguising it. Use it sparingly over a good cream. Apply it only to the circles, and then blend it with a light tapping motion or by gently rolling your fingertips over it to smooth it out. A concealer pencil can be great for getting a concentrated amount into a small space. Shiseido (department stores) makes a great concealer pencil.
If you send me a private message, I might be able to help you with some more tips, but I will need to know your basic skin tone, etc, to give you the tips that are tailored to helping you the most. I have one little eye massage tip, and some ideas about the tone of the concealer you will want to use.
hey lisa, my name is aryn and i sell mary kay and they have a GREAT product for under eye bags and dark circles. you really can see it instantly lighten up. actually there are two kinds one is not a strong as the other. but the first one is the timewise firming eye cream and sells for $30. the other one is the time wise targeted-action eye revitalizer this one sells for $35(this one is great). you only have to use a very small drop for both eyes so it will last you forever. and a bit of a yellow concealer is good too, it will help over up the dark circles. if you are interested let me know! i hope this helps
Clinique has an under eye serum that works wonderfully!! Avon has a knock-off version of it that works just as well but is a little less pricy.
