tankless water heaters?

Hi-

It seems that we need to replace our hot water heater, which we've had for too many years. I heard a lot about tankless water heaters a year or two back. Does anyone have one? Pros? Cons? Who did you use to install it (and take out the old one)?

It is funny, but yes we are going to get one...
My husband did all the research, all I know is, you have constant hot water flow,it's more initially, but in the longe run,you will save more money. It's smaller, so we have more room in the laundry room.
And if you buy one right now, you get 33% back from your taxes !!!
That is all I know.

Hi Maria,

I just did this a couple months ago & TOTALLY recommend going tank-less!! Tank-less heaters cost a bit more up front versus traditional tank-types, but they pay off in the long run as you're not paying to heat & reheat water whether you use it or not, also you don't ever run out of hot water as it heats the water as you need it. We put that to the test when my sister's kids stayed with us for a few weeks - five kids, 2 adults no cold showers!! That alone is amazing to me.

It is so nice to have the entire water heater take up only about 2'x3' of wall space and ZERO floor space. I LOVE IT!! Tell them Donna sent you, & they'll give you $25 off your repair!

The only con is that you wait a little longer for the warm water to reach you as it heats as you make the demand but it really isn't that different from the other for me as I live in an old house & had to wait for the water to reach the second floor anyway.

I HIGHLY recommend Apple Plumbing, 630-532-9775
(appleplumbingteam.com). They installed, removed the old one, cleaned up after themselves & made it great. I can't say enough good things about how knowledgeable & good they were.

Bonus, this is a nice tax credit, too!!!

Hope this helps!
Donna
